Episode 134: Reviewing a great week 7 of college football and look ahead to week 8!

What a great week of College Football! We break down all of the top matchups and moments from the week that was.

We then turn our attention to the upcoming week, we pick the winners for the top matchups and make some upset picks. Enjoy!

[00:00:31] Welcome back everybody to the latest episode of In The Flat Podcast. I'm your host Tony Coate, joined as always by Jordan and Jess. We had another great week of college football this past week. It wasn't as many crazy upsets, but it was some good games. It was some close to being upset games. Just overall some good overtime contests. So overall I think it's a great week of college football. When I watched this week it made me realize why I always prefer a college game over NFL because to me it just connects with me and it's exciting.

[00:01:01] Anything can happen because it's young guys going out there giving it all. Used to be not getting paid, not probably getting paid more than some of the NFL players. But overall good week of college football. So we're going to dive into that today. We have another good week coming up. We have I think five potential good games for next weekend and we also have five potential upset type of games that we want to talk through as well.

[00:01:23] So what's kicking off here with I would say the game of the week last week and that was Oregon outlasting coming back beating Ohio State 32-31. And I will say it was kind of punctuated at the end of a big mistake by Will Howard sliding as time ran out with a timeout still there.

[00:01:44] So mistake by him but you know tough bang bang call there that he had to make which was because we're kind of far for a field goal. But you know get five yards go down really quick. But I know that's easier said than done. So overall really good game here. You know I'm not the biggest Dylan Gabriel fan. But he had a he did have a good game here. 341 yards two touchdowns. I thought he made some really good plays in this game to help get them to victory.

[00:02:10] Will Howard himself I thought had a pretty you know I've been kind of critical of him as well. Just I didn't feel like he would be the quarterback to get Ohio State over to hump to get the national championship but had a good game for 126 yards two touchdowns. But again I felt he had a couple little mental errors throughout the game that that might have cost them. Overall though I think a great great battle for the first first time game between these two Big Ten teams. So I'll start you just what what's your impressions here of Oregon and Ohio State.

[00:02:40] Are you were you what you think of Oregon's performance here is coming as a slight underdog.

[00:02:47] I mean I know Jordan and I were higher on Oregon than you were Tony.

[00:02:54] But I think this game really showed that these two are kind of the class of the Big Ten right now.

[00:03:01] I don't see anybody really having the roster to compete with either of these two teams.

[00:03:08] And I have Ohio State winning the Big Ten.

[00:03:13] I have Ohio State winning it all.

[00:03:16] And nothing about this game really you know worried me.

[00:03:20] I mean the big error came when Will Howard you know at the very very end didn't slide.

[00:03:27] And that is such a kind of unique situation.

[00:03:32] That is such a unique kind of everything's happening all at once play.

[00:03:38] That one it's going to be on the if that sort of situation comes up again you know it's going to be in the back of his mind.

[00:03:45] Okay I need to get down early.

[00:03:46] I need to get down early.

[00:03:47] And two again like how likely is that exact scenario going to happen where no timeouts can't.

[00:03:56] You're just out of field goal range.

[00:03:59] It just felt like a very specific event.

[00:04:01] And I don't think that they're going to have anything like that happen again.

[00:04:07] So I think if these two teams play again I think it will be another great game.

[00:04:12] I think Ohio State will come out on top.

[00:04:14] But Oregon showed why they you know even when they were struggling with the lesser teams they weren't dropped that far.

[00:04:22] So I think both teams played fantastic football.

[00:04:26] And I hope we get another one of these games in the Big Ten Championship.

[00:04:31] Alright Jordan what are your thoughts here sir?

[00:04:32] I don't know if you guys saw the Dan Lanning stuff where people are saying the 12 men on the field penalty.

[00:04:41] That it was like his big brain play or something?

[00:04:45] Yeah.

[00:04:47] But I definitely think this game was honestly a great game.

[00:04:52] They both played well.

[00:04:54] Like you said Tony.

[00:04:54] Will Howard actually showed out which was a big surprise for me.

[00:04:59] I think Will Howard like you said Tony was you weren't sure about him for Ohio State but played really well.

[00:05:06] I think the biggest thing for me is Ohio State just had more mental mistakes.

[00:05:12] Like you talked about Tony and Jess the Will Howard mistake at the end of the game.

[00:05:17] But they had that fumble early on.

[00:05:19] They just had more penalties.

[00:05:22] They had 8 compared to Oregon's 3.

[00:05:25] So things like that I think the mental mistakes Ohio State had.

[00:05:29] It just comes with playing at Oregon.

[00:05:35] Not being home kind of thing.

[00:05:37] That was the biggest thing I think that came out of this game is

[00:05:41] next time they play will be more than likely in that Big Ten Championship game

[00:05:45] at a neutral site.

[00:05:46] So I think it's just going to be a lot different of a game on Ohio State's side

[00:05:53] in the sense that now you're not playing them at their home.

[00:05:56] But big win for Oregon.

[00:05:58] I think we're going to see this again in the Big Ten Championship game maybe

[00:06:02] depending on Indiana.

[00:06:05] I don't know who Indiana plays.

[00:06:07] Ohio State.

[00:06:09] Oh, well, maybe they might win.

[00:06:11] So we don't know.

[00:06:14] Tony's favorite team is Indiana.

[00:06:15] And everybody just said, you know.

[00:06:16] Penn State's also out there.

[00:06:18] We don't talk about you, Eller.

[00:06:23] So, but no.

[00:06:24] Big win for Oregon.

[00:06:27] Like Jess said, those games didn't matter in the beginning where it was close.

[00:06:31] These big games matter.

[00:06:33] And they came out.

[00:06:34] So, big.

[00:06:35] My only concern with Ohio State here, still, and it comes back the last couple

[00:06:40] years is, are they a physical enough team to win some of these playoff games

[00:06:46] they're going to have to win?

[00:06:48] And I say that because, yeah, they had 141 yards rushing,

[00:06:52] but it took 33 carries to get that 4.3 yards.

[00:06:55] And when I looked at it, I mean, Quisson Jenkins,

[00:06:58] I thought he was going to be a huge addition.

[00:07:01] I don't know how explosive he was at Ole Miss.

[00:07:04] He ran it 11 times for 23 yards.

[00:07:07] I know some of that was tackle for loss a few times.

[00:07:10] But I just feel like, man, they just can't line it up and run it down someone's

[00:07:15] throat like they want to.

[00:07:16] That's cost them against Michigan a couple times.

[00:07:18] And I'm not saying it costs them in this game, but it does make me wonder,

[00:07:22] do they fall in love too much with the long pass,

[00:07:26] trying to go for the home run every time, and not just run the ball,

[00:07:31] win the time and position, and really own the game.

[00:07:34] And I feel like that's what Michigan has done against them the last couple

[00:07:36] years.

[00:07:37] I haven't seen it yet this year.

[00:07:38] I think I even mentioned a few games ago that they just haven't looked

[00:07:41] physical enough.

[00:07:42] That's the whole reason I was originally picking Michigan is because I thought

[00:07:45] Michigan was going to have that still physical team,

[00:07:47] which they don't have this year.

[00:07:49] I don't know if even Oregon even has it,

[00:07:51] but maybe I think Penn State has a pretty physical team.

[00:07:54] Will that be a challenge for Ohio State?

[00:07:56] Will they be able to line up and do what they want?

[00:07:57] Usually they can against Penn State,

[00:07:59] but that would be my worry if I'm a Ohio State fan watching this game is just

[00:08:02] like, yeah, they could throw it all around the field,

[00:08:04] but they still have it.

[00:08:06] I don't think they solve some of that consistent run game that they'll need

[00:08:10] in those bigger games.

[00:08:12] Maybe I'm off there.

[00:08:13] That's kind of what I'm seeing.

[00:08:15] I mean, Trevion Henderson averaged 8.7 yards per carry.

[00:08:20] So.

[00:08:21] But yeah, so why are you giving the ball to a question?

[00:08:24] Take them 11 times.

[00:08:25] And I think this is what's happened the last few years.

[00:08:28] Henderson can break off the supposed to pace,

[00:08:30] but he only gets the ball a certain amount of times.

[00:08:32] And you can only give it to him 10 times compared to.

[00:08:36] I think they're, maybe this is something they're going to adjust as the season

[00:08:41] goes on.

[00:08:42] I mean, it is already like almost halfway through the season,

[00:08:47] so it's not like they're going to have a ton of time left to make this kind

[00:08:50] of adjustment.

[00:08:51] But it seems like they're really trying to balance between the two,

[00:08:55] Henderson and Judkins.

[00:08:56] You know, that's a pretty even split, 10 and 11.

[00:09:00] But, I mean, Henderson was just so much more efficient with each carry.

[00:09:07] And I feel like it's been every game.

[00:09:10] Sorry.

[00:09:12] Go on, Tony.

[00:09:12] Sorry, sorry.

[00:09:13] No, I feel like this has been how it has been.

[00:09:15] Like last year, I remembered a Notre Dame game.

[00:09:19] They won, but they weren't still the most physical team running a ball down the

[00:09:23] road.

[00:09:24] They had one long run play in that game.

[00:09:26] And I think the talk coming out of the game was they're going to fix it.

[00:09:28] They're going to fix it and be more dedicated to the run.

[00:09:31] And what happened when they ran into Michigan again?

[00:09:33] They couldn't do it.

[00:09:35] And I just worry that's what's going to happen here.

[00:09:37] They need to figure this out.

[00:09:39] Like, I don't know if it's maybe a two-back formation or something they need to

[00:09:43] figure out to get Henderson more involved, get him more involved in the

[00:09:47] passing game.

[00:09:48] He only had two catches in the passing game.

[00:09:50] I don't know.

[00:09:51] Maybe that's not a huge skill set of his, but I feel like he could do more

[00:09:54] there.

[00:09:54] I don't know.

[00:09:55] But I feel like they're going to have to line up and beat it when they go

[00:09:59] against a really strong secondary.

[00:10:02] I mean, if you just look at the stats, Oregon ran the ball with Jordan James 23

[00:10:07] times for 115 yards.

[00:10:11] So, you're correct.

[00:10:13] I mean, why keep switching it around when you have a guy that's running it down

[00:10:17] there?

[00:10:17] Because they paid him a couple million dollars.

[00:10:19] That's what I'm, it's the money.

[00:10:21] I looked into the stats a bit more because I wasn't able to watch the whole game.

[00:10:26] Henderson had one carry of 53 yards.

[00:10:30] So, the rest of the time he was averaging about 3.8 per carry.

[00:10:33] And that's still better than...

[00:10:34] That's what usually hides it, though.

[00:10:36] See, because I remember Henderson last year, he would break off and won a game,

[00:10:40] which is why you want to keep giving him the ball.

[00:10:41] But they cannot successfully move the ball.

[00:10:44] Like, even against bad teams, they're not running consistently, I don't feel.

[00:10:48] But with that...

[00:10:49] I watch that when I do.

[00:10:49] With that, Jess, you said he had 3.7 yards to carry.

[00:10:53] Outside of that 150.

[00:10:54] Junkins had 2.1 yards to carry.

[00:10:57] So, why would you...

[00:10:59] It's still better, but...

[00:11:01] I mean, it's not like...

[00:11:03] Something to keep an eye on, I think.

[00:11:04] Yeah, it's definitely something to keep an eye on.

[00:11:06] But, I mean, hey, if all they need is that 153-yard carry a game,

[00:11:13] and, you know, they're still getting over, like, 100 yards or so...

[00:11:18] I mean, it's not...

[00:11:19] I don't know.

[00:11:20] I just remember, I just look back to these Michigan games they lost the last few years.

[00:11:23] It's been the same thing.

[00:11:25] They can't consistently get the runoff.

[00:11:27] They're not a physical enough team.

[00:11:28] And I haven't...

[00:11:29] I thought they were getting past that, but it doesn't show to me that they are.

[00:11:33] But it's crazy to me why you would go...

[00:11:36] You know, Trayvon Henderson's been consistent for you,

[00:11:39] and you got Jenkins, who...

[00:11:42] 2022, he had a great year, 1,500 yards.

[00:11:45] You know, and then the next year, with three less carries,

[00:11:49] had 400 more, or 400 less yards.

[00:11:54] So, I just...

[00:11:55] A little bit of a head case, no offense to him,

[00:11:57] but I think that's part of his issue.

[00:11:59] I know he did.

[00:12:00] But didn't he also come out and say that the reason he chose Ohio State

[00:12:03] was literally just that they were paying him the most?

[00:12:07] Like, he literally put himself out there.

[00:12:10] Yeah, I mean, Ohio State...

[00:12:11] I mean, Ohio State went all in.

[00:12:12] $20 million.

[00:12:13] We all saw the figure.

[00:12:14] I mean, Ryan Day's under fire right now.

[00:12:16] A lot of the fans and the media there,

[00:12:18] and here in Ohio, I will say,

[00:12:20] because everybody wants to fire him, for the most part,

[00:12:23] because he doesn't win these big games.

[00:12:25] So, I don't know.

[00:12:27] He's got to get this under control by the time they...

[00:12:29] I mean, Indiana may give him a game.

[00:12:31] I don't know.

[00:12:32] Like, I feel like they should win now

[00:12:33] because they're all not talenting them,

[00:12:34] but they're going to be in trouble in the playoffs

[00:12:37] if they can't get the run going, I feel.

[00:12:40] All right.

[00:12:41] Enough about Ohio State and their run game.

[00:12:42] I'm sure they're going to prove us wrong

[00:12:44] and run for 5,000 yards the rest of the season

[00:12:46] and win the championship or whatever.

[00:12:47] If that happens, Jess is going to lay an egg.

[00:12:51] All right.

[00:12:51] We heard it here first.

[00:12:53] All right.

[00:12:54] Next up, let's talk about Texas

[00:12:57] and their demolition of Oklahoma 34-3.

[00:13:00] I mean, I feel bad for Oklahoma in this game.

[00:13:03] I mean, they really don't have any...

[00:13:05] Their top five wide receivers are out in this game again.

[00:13:09] I mean, what are you supposed...

[00:13:10] I don't know what you're supposed to do

[00:13:11] if you're a young quarterback.

[00:13:12] I mean, you have nobody to throw to.

[00:13:14] You probably have backups and, like...

[00:13:17] They were down, like, five receivers?

[00:13:21] They were down the top five receivers.

[00:13:22] And then, so...

[00:13:23] I don't even know how they have...

[00:13:24] I look at their stats.

[00:13:25] Like, they have a lot of...

[00:13:26] With one and two yards.

[00:13:27] I mean, obviously, there's some backups here.

[00:13:29] There's some running backs.

[00:13:30] There's some tight ends.

[00:13:31] But, I mean, you can't win a game that way.

[00:13:33] And I think that showed...

[00:13:34] They really...

[00:13:36] They could have run the ball

[00:13:37] because they were probably keying in on that.

[00:13:39] And they couldn't throw it

[00:13:39] because the receiver talent wasn't there.

[00:13:41] I feel bad for Oklahoma, but, I mean...

[00:13:44] Texas did what they had to do.

[00:13:46] That was a slow start there.

[00:13:47] I think it was free enough in Oklahoma

[00:13:48] after the first quarter.

[00:13:50] But Texas got it going in the second quarter

[00:13:51] and pulled away the rest of the game.

[00:13:54] So, what do you think about this game here, Jordan?

[00:13:58] There's not much to say.

[00:13:59] I feel like Texas...

[00:14:00] I mean, like you said,

[00:14:03] Oklahoma had no receivers.

[00:14:05] They're on a freshman quarterback.

[00:14:09] I just think this game was...

[00:14:11] Texas is to win no matter what.

[00:14:14] And I think...

[00:14:18] Every player, every position, everything...

[00:14:21] Texas was just better at.

[00:14:23] So, I just think this...

[00:14:25] If Texas...

[00:14:26] If it was any closer,

[00:14:27] I would be more...

[00:14:29] You know, have more to say.

[00:14:30] But I feel like just Texas did what they needed.

[00:14:32] They went in, won this game easily.

[00:14:37] And I feel like this was a good Quinn Ewers

[00:14:40] just coming back from injury game.

[00:14:42] Just getting him comfortable again.

[00:14:44] Getting him...

[00:14:45] You know, back in there.

[00:14:47] And I think Texas did what they got to do.

[00:14:50] A lot of Art Vanney calls.

[00:14:51] We don't talk about him here.

[00:14:53] We don't talk about him here.

[00:14:54] We talk about him a little bit.

[00:14:57] No.

[00:14:57] No.

[00:14:58] I don't talk about him.

[00:15:00] Yeah, I don't talk about him.

[00:15:01] But good win.

[00:15:03] Good win for him.

[00:15:03] Just anything to say here.

[00:15:05] I know Texas is one of your favorites here

[00:15:07] to win it all this year.

[00:15:09] So, any thoughts here?

[00:15:10] Yeah.

[00:15:12] I mean, it kind of seemed to look...

[00:15:15] It looked like in that first quarter

[00:15:17] what my main concern was going into this game

[00:15:22] was how Ewers was going to look

[00:15:24] coming off the injury.

[00:15:26] And he did not get off to a good start.

[00:15:30] Interceptions, missed passes, underthrows.

[00:15:33] But once it seemed like they found their groove,

[00:15:36] he got comfortable,

[00:15:37] the running game was established,

[00:15:39] he was fine.

[00:15:41] And Texas has, you know...

[00:15:43] We said going into the game,

[00:15:45] as we've been saying all year,

[00:15:46] in terms of Texas versus Oklahoma,

[00:15:48] Texas has the much better roster,

[00:15:51] is ready to win now.

[00:15:52] And the injuries to all of their Oklahoma receivers

[00:15:58] going into the game

[00:15:59] certainly didn't help Oklahoma's chances.

[00:16:02] But I think, all things considered,

[00:16:07] both teams kind of played as well

[00:16:09] as can be expected,

[00:16:10] given the circumstances.

[00:16:11] I think Oklahoma's defense is still quite good.

[00:16:14] They just happened to run into

[00:16:17] possibly the second best roster

[00:16:21] in college football.

[00:16:22] You know, at the very least,

[00:16:24] as we've kind of discussed,

[00:16:25] of those top teams, I think,

[00:16:27] when healthy, Ewers looks like the best.

[00:16:30] Between him, Will Howard, Carson Beck,

[00:16:34] in my opinion, Ewers looks better.

[00:16:36] And Dylan Gabriel,

[00:16:38] just like those top four teams.

[00:16:40] I would say that Ewers has looked the best.

[00:16:44] But needs to stay healthy.

[00:16:46] And so, it is what it is.

[00:16:48] Don't worry, Oklahoma.

[00:16:49] You'll get back there in a couple years.

[00:16:51] But for now, it's all Texas.

[00:16:54] Yep.

[00:16:55] No, I agree.

[00:16:55] I think, you know,

[00:16:57] I think Oklahoma defense,

[00:17:00] I think probably after that first quarter,

[00:17:03] you're hanging in.

[00:17:04] The offense has only scored three points.

[00:17:06] And then they start struggling.

[00:17:08] And then the defense just starts not trying as hard.

[00:17:11] So, I would kind of say a lot of that.

[00:17:13] As a Giants fan,

[00:17:15] I can tell you from experience,

[00:17:17] from this weekend,

[00:17:19] doesn't really matter how great your defense plays

[00:17:22] if your offense can't score points.

[00:17:25] Exactly.

[00:17:28] All right.

[00:17:28] Let's move ahead to what almost was the upset of the week.

[00:17:32] Alabama, South Carolina.

[00:17:34] Alabama squeaked this one out, 27-25.

[00:17:37] I really thought South Carolina was about to come back

[00:17:39] and win this game after they got the onside kick.

[00:17:42] But then their days couldn't pass the ball anymore.

[00:17:45] All they had to do was get a field goal range.

[00:17:46] 20 yards, they couldn't do it.

[00:17:47] So, Alabama was going to hang on.

[00:17:51] Well, I will say that probably South Carolina really should have won this game.

[00:17:55] But they gave the ball up too many times.

[00:17:57] They had four turnovers, three fumbles, interception.

[00:18:02] It was a sloppy game for them.

[00:18:03] I mean, some of that was obviously caused by the Alabama defense.

[00:18:06] Some of it was not.

[00:18:08] Alabama just continues to look bad.

[00:18:10] I mean, Jalen Monroe,

[00:18:11] everybody was saying he's turned to the corner at the beginning of the year,

[00:18:15] that first half against Georgia.

[00:18:17] And then he just kind of had to take a little bit of a falling back here.

[00:18:21] I mean, he threw for 290 yards this game.

[00:18:23] He had two interceptions and did look great.

[00:18:27] Alabama doesn't look great in general.

[00:18:29] So, Jess, what are you thinking here with Alabama?

[00:18:33] Yeah, I mean, this is something that I mentioned last week

[00:18:39] that we didn't really get to talk that much about

[00:18:42] in the aftermath of the Alabama-Georgia game.

[00:18:44] But that Alabama secondary is susceptible.

[00:18:49] Yes.

[00:18:50] It's young.

[00:18:52] It's got some holes in it.

[00:18:56] And South Carolina's QB, Lenore Sellers,

[00:19:00] was an efficient 23 of 31 for 238 yards and two touchdowns.

[00:19:06] They had that 36-yard touchdown pass

[00:19:10] and then another 31-yard pass towards the end there with 43 seconds left.

[00:19:16] Teams are able to throw the ball on Alabama.

[00:19:20] Alabama is still very talented.

[00:19:26] And...

[00:19:27] But it does feel like, especially on the defensive side without Nick Saban,

[00:19:34] it's just a little bit of, like, that tightness.

[00:19:39] You know, like, defensive, everything is going to be rigid and perfect

[00:19:46] and we're not going to have any...

[00:19:49] You're going to have to just out-talent us, essentially.

[00:19:54] Like, it felt like in all those Nick Saban years,

[00:19:58] teams that he would lose to would be, like, that 2019 LSU team

[00:20:05] or that crazy, deep quarterback Ohio State team in 2014 that was...

[00:20:12] I think that was Ezekiel Elliott in that year.

[00:20:15] Yeah.

[00:20:16] You know, those couple Georgia teams

[00:20:20] that had some of the most talented defenses we had ever seen.

[00:20:23] You know, like, teams like that were the teams

[00:20:26] that were able to beat Alabama.

[00:20:27] And they weren't having these losses to Vanderbilt

[00:20:31] and close games to South Carolina.

[00:20:34] And if they did, it was like, you know, one a year.

[00:20:38] You were either losing or you had that close scare.

[00:20:40] You weren't getting both.

[00:20:43] But it just feels like something is off this year with Alabama

[00:20:47] that we haven't really seen in the entirety of the Nick Saban tenure.

[00:20:54] And I don't know if it's DeBoer's coaching style

[00:20:57] compared to Nick Saban's

[00:20:59] or maybe it was that they, you know...

[00:21:03] What was it?

[00:21:03] Yeah, Caleb Downs, I think, you know, leaving at...

[00:21:07] Made a hole in the second year.

[00:21:08] Something's just off with this Alabama team.

[00:21:10] And they're still going to be a top 10 team.

[00:21:13] They still...

[00:21:14] I'd say they still have like a 95% chance of making the playoffs.

[00:21:18] But something is off.

[00:21:21] I agree.

[00:21:22] Jordan, what are you thinking?

[00:21:23] Yeah, no, definitely.

[00:21:25] Something's off with Alabama.

[00:21:27] Biggest thing for me is I think DeBoer comes in, you know, that offense spreads out that offense.

[00:21:34] But Jalen Milrow is not that great of a quarterback to throw the ball so many times and not run it.

[00:21:41] But Alabama was probably one of the most split down the middle running and passing offenses in college football majority of the time.

[00:21:53] And they barely have a running back that has...

[00:21:56] He has 360 yards total this season.

[00:22:00] So, I mean, it's just why...

[00:22:05] What is their offense is just not what Alabama's offense usually is.

[00:22:12] You know, they don't control that line of scrimmage.

[00:22:16] And Jalen Milrow is not the quarterback that you would want to be in the offense that they're running.

[00:22:22] You know, you're coming off Michael Penix Jr., who was pretty accurate and put up passing numbers but also could move with his feet.

[00:22:31] But you're going to Milrow who can't do that.

[00:22:36] But the biggest thing is that, yeah, South Carolina had four turnovers.

[00:22:41] One of the interceptions was...

[00:22:43] The one interception was the last play.

[00:22:45] And two of the fumbles resulted in nothing for Alabama.

[00:22:51] One fumble did.

[00:22:53] And it's the big thing for...

[00:22:54] South Carolina just didn't capitalize.

[00:22:56] They got an interception.

[00:22:57] And then one play later, they fumbled the ball back to Alabama.

[00:23:00] And that's the score that Alabama got.

[00:23:03] So it's just South Carolina...

[00:23:05] It's not Alabama winning this game.

[00:23:07] I feel like South Carolina lost this game.

[00:23:09] They were in control.

[00:23:11] It was 19-14 at one point.

[00:23:14] 19-13 at one point.

[00:23:17] They got Alabama...

[00:23:18] Alabama had a safety.

[00:23:20] I just think South Carolina lost this game on just not being able to hold the ball and fumbling it.

[00:23:27] Even if they fumbled it one last time and now that touchdown from that fumble didn't count, wasn't there, they would have won this game.

[00:23:37] Ball security was what lost South Carolina in this game and not win this game for Alabama.

[00:23:44] Yeah, and I'd be remiss if we talked about Ohio State rushing the ball.

[00:23:47] You mentioned it a little bit.

[00:23:49] But Alabama had a little bit of a struggle here.

[00:23:52] I know South Carolina has a pretty good defensive line.

[00:23:54] But having 38 carries for only 104 yards is not a great recipe for success, especially in the SEC.

[00:24:01] So they really don't...

[00:24:03] I'm not wowed by their running backs.

[00:24:05] Now, I know Jalen Monroe had 36 yards, probably more than that with you taking sacks, things like that.

[00:24:10] But their running backs, Jan Miller, 12 carries, 42 yards.

[00:24:14] Justice Hayes, 8 carries, 26 yards.

[00:24:16] It's not very oppressive.

[00:24:18] And when you see them in there, they don't scare you.

[00:24:20] They don't strike fear in you like the old Alabama running backs used to.

[00:24:23] So, again, it's just a weird year, I will say, for college football.

[00:24:29] Teams that you would expect to do certain things are not.

[00:24:32] And with this, I mean, they like throwing the ball more.

[00:24:35] I just don't know.

[00:24:35] Like you said, I don't think they have the right personnel to do what they want to do yet.

[00:24:40] All right.

[00:24:41] Moving ahead.

[00:24:41] Penn State.

[00:24:42] Let's talk about Penn State and USC.

[00:24:45] So, Penn State, I jinxed USC in this game.

[00:24:48] I mean, I guess I don't care.

[00:24:49] I hate USC.

[00:24:50] But USC was up 20-6.

[00:24:53] I was like, oh, look, Penn State didn't show up for another big contest.

[00:24:57] Then they stormed back and won this game 33-30 in overtime.

[00:25:02] I mean, Drew Aller, I would say, had probably his best performance as a quarterback with 391 yards.

[00:25:07] And some of the plays he made while watching this game were pretty impressive.

[00:25:11] Now, he threw some bad interceptions, three of them to be exact.

[00:25:14] So, he wasn't perfect by any means.

[00:25:16] But they let him have a little more freedom, which has opened up the offense a bit.

[00:25:20] Miller Moss, on the other hand, he looked a little more pedestrian.

[00:25:23] I mean, this is a pretty good Penn State defense.

[00:25:25] But only a little over 200 yards, and some of his decision-making wasn't good.

[00:25:29] And overthrew some people in crucial times.

[00:25:32] I just suspected more for him.

[00:25:34] If I was USC, though, I would continue to run with Woody Marks.

[00:25:37] Whenever he ran, I felt like good things were happening, and they would have stopped running and surpassed it again.

[00:25:42] And I just felt like they needed to go back to that.

[00:25:44] But, sorry, you, Jordan.

[00:25:46] What do you think here of this Penn State-USC?

[00:25:49] USC still doesn't have a defense.

[00:25:53] Yeah, 518 total yards, 400 passing yards in this game for Penn State.

[00:25:59] Drew Allard, like you said, had his best game.

[00:26:03] It looks like the USC, with those turnovers, got field goals.

[00:26:07] They didn't finish their drives enough to get those touchdowns.

[00:26:10] Every drive would end in a field goal after the interception.

[00:26:13] So, USC just needed, it showed they couldn't finish the game.

[00:26:19] Up 20-6.

[00:26:21] Defense couldn't stop Penn State.

[00:26:24] They had to, you know, Penn State had to open the game up after halftime to even hopefully try to get this to the point where they could win like they did.

[00:26:35] Sorry, Penn State, or USC, Tony did message us and say,

[00:26:39] USC is about to win this game, and...

[00:26:42] That usually means you're not going to win this game.

[00:26:44] Yeah, sorry.

[00:26:45] It's Tony's fault.

[00:26:47] But, like you said, Drew Allard had a great game besides those turnovers.

[00:26:52] Really, just USC's defense is still not there.

[00:26:56] I don't know what to say after this game.

[00:27:01] What do they do?

[00:27:02] Where do they turn at this point?

[00:27:05] Quarterback's not there.

[00:27:06] Lincoln Riley needs the quarterback to be something, and he's not producing that with this quarterback.

[00:27:13] And not producing a defense.

[00:27:15] I mean, you can't let up 400 passing yards in a game thinking you're going to win against Penn State.

[00:27:21] So, big comeback for Penn State.

[00:27:23] USC, I don't know what to do with you anymore.

[00:27:28] Jeff?

[00:27:30] I mean, I said going into this game, the difference is going to be Drew Allard.

[00:27:35] Jordan and I had quite an interesting back and forth about that last week.

[00:27:41] But, you know, he's not perfect, but he's a big guy.

[00:27:46] Big arm.

[00:27:47] He can move.

[00:27:48] He's clearly got the talent.

[00:27:50] He's gotten better this year.

[00:27:53] USC's defense, while I still think it is definitely better than last year, still is quite susceptible.

[00:27:59] You know, they're far from Ohio State or Iowa or 2022 Georgia or 2021 Georgia would take your pick.

[00:28:12] You know, but they are better.

[00:28:16] And, you know, USC's still, I think, a friend.

[00:28:22] You know, they're going to make a bowl.

[00:28:23] They're going to, you know, show flashes.

[00:28:27] It's a Lincoln-Riley-led team.

[00:28:28] They're going to be able to put up points as the year goes on.

[00:28:31] I think an interesting story over the course of the season is what's kind of happened with Branch over there, the wide receiver at USC.

[00:28:41] You know, everyone was thinking he was going to be, like, this next great phenom.

[00:28:45] And I don't really feel like he's had his name called much this year.

[00:28:50] Something to look into if one of you want to find the stats on him.

[00:28:53] I wish he would just, like, they would use him in different ways.

[00:28:56] I just don't feel like they're using him the right way, which is surprising for Lincoln-Riley.

[00:29:00] He's not just a pure deep thread.

[00:29:02] He's cool.

[00:29:03] He's like an early Tyreek Hill where he's a gadget guy.

[00:29:09] They should run with him more.

[00:29:10] Why don't they run with him?

[00:29:11] Put him in motion.

[00:29:12] Run him the ball.

[00:29:13] Give him these, you know, like those behind-the-line, you know, tap passes, you know.

[00:29:18] Just get him into the open space.

[00:29:21] I feel like he's still going to get drafted.

[00:29:24] And if he ends up on, like, God forbid, the Chiefs.

[00:29:27] He only has 23 receptions this year for 233 yards.

[00:29:31] That's a travesty.

[00:29:33] And that was – he was like that last year.

[00:29:36] So, last year he only had 31 receptions for 320 yards.

[00:29:42] But what was the year it felt like he was going – like, I feel like he was –

[00:29:45] It was –

[00:29:46] He's just his second year.

[00:29:47] He's the first year.

[00:29:47] It was last year when he – every punt return or kickoff, you thought he was going to return it every time.

[00:29:53] Keller Williams last year will probably help.

[00:29:56] Yeah.

[00:29:56] But –

[00:29:58] Yeah.

[00:30:00] I told you, Tony.

[00:30:01] You were all upset about it.

[00:30:03] Until he plays a real team.

[00:30:05] Hey.

[00:30:06] Maybe.

[00:30:07] Maybe.

[00:30:08] He's beaten four bad teams, but he's looked – he's gotten better in each game.

[00:30:12] We're not here to talk about –

[00:30:14] That's Gordon.

[00:30:15] Every Bears quarterback.

[00:30:16] All right.

[00:30:17] We're not talking about Bears.

[00:30:19] But Drew Aller and Penn State, like I said, they're a very talented team.

[00:30:25] Their issue is going to be –

[00:30:27] Quarterback.

[00:30:28] Can they hang with the top dogs?

[00:30:30] And we're going to have to wait and see.

[00:30:33] We're going to have to wait for the Ohio State-Penn State game because I'm pretty sure that's the only top team Penn State has left.

[00:30:43] And Penn State will probably lose that game and then make it to the playoffs and lose in like the second round or something.

[00:30:53] But as of right now, Penn State looks like they are the third best team in the Big Ten.

[00:31:00] Well, Indiana's right there.

[00:31:01] I'll put Indiana, but I'm just kidding.

[00:31:03] Indiana's fourth.

[00:31:04] But I guess I'll give a little credit to Penn State.

[00:31:07] I don't like giving credit to Penn State at all.

[00:31:09] But they did win a game.

[00:31:11] So there you go.

[00:31:12] Well, granted, USC was unranked going into this game.

[00:31:17] So does it really matter?

[00:31:20] All right.

[00:31:21] Let's move on before Jordan and I start arguing again.

[00:31:23] Yeah, really.

[00:31:24] We don't have 30 minutes on Penn State.

[00:31:26] Just saying.

[00:31:27] Well, we'll save a separate Penn State podcast for you guys.

[00:31:31] All right.

[00:31:31] Moving on to Georgia and Mississippi State.

[00:31:34] Won't spend too much time on this game.

[00:31:35] But I just wanted to call it out.

[00:31:37] Obviously, this wasn't a game of the week or anything.

[00:31:39] But Georgia won 41-31, which they were just lackadaisical in this game.

[00:31:44] It seemed like they were just going for the motions at times.

[00:31:46] Carson Beck did throw up for a lot of yards.

[00:31:49] But, you know, threw up for a couple of interceptions.

[00:31:52] Was it great?

[00:31:55] I continue not to be wowed by the running backs here of Georgia either.

[00:31:59] Maybe it's just a bad year for running backs ever than the Boise State running back.

[00:32:02] But I feel like, you know, I'm not wowed.

[00:32:07] I'm not scared with any of these guys touched the ball.

[00:32:09] And I feel like this game is closer.

[00:32:11] I mean, Toledo blew out Mississippi State and Georgia didn't.

[00:32:15] I don't know if that just means Georgia didn't care about this game

[00:32:18] or doesn't have that killer instinct.

[00:32:20] The defense might be lacking a little bit.

[00:32:22] You've got to be a little worried about that going into Texas,

[00:32:24] which we'll talk about later.

[00:32:26] But I'm sorry, you, Jess.

[00:32:28] Any quick thoughts here on Georgia?

[00:32:32] Yeah, I mean, Carson Beck made some really nice throws in this game.

[00:32:37] Like you said, he put up a decent amount of yardage.

[00:32:40] Not even decent, probably.

[00:32:43] 459.

[00:32:44] Yeah, that's a bit better than decent.

[00:32:46] I didn't have the exact numbers.

[00:32:47] Not my usual when I played.

[00:32:50] Of course.

[00:32:52] But, I mean, kind of like Alabama.

[00:32:57] Something about Georgia seems off this year.

[00:33:00] And, like, it's not a lack of talent.

[00:33:02] They still have plenty of NFL-talented NFL-level guys,

[00:33:07] particularly on the defense.

[00:33:08] But just, I don't know if the culture thing is kind of catching up to them.

[00:33:12] I mean, just this year alone, how many guys have made the news for getting arrested

[00:33:18] for DUIs or assault or whatever it is?

[00:33:23] You know, it feels like every year there's this more than one,

[00:33:28] and one of those should be enough per year.

[00:33:30] I wonder.

[00:33:31] You think it's like they've recruited so well the last few years

[00:33:35] that they feel like they're just going to come in and out-talent on every team.

[00:33:39] Like, they're much better.

[00:33:39] They don't respect them as much.

[00:33:41] I don't know, like, least.

[00:33:42] It has Georgia kind of fallen to the Alabama thing

[00:33:47] or the Patriots thing where, you know,

[00:33:52] every year their coaching talent gets poached.

[00:33:55] Could that be it?

[00:33:57] Like, because, I mean, Nick Saban was able to kind of get around that

[00:34:02] because he was just that good.

[00:34:05] He just uses that good.

[00:34:09] But, and even the guys that he brought in were able to at least be better.

[00:34:15] But it feels like Georgia schematically, energy, everything is just, like,

[00:34:23] ticked down this year.

[00:34:25] I mean, at least with Alabama and Kalen DeBoer, it's still, like...

[00:34:29] It's a coaching change.

[00:34:31] They haven't got the right personnel yet, maybe.

[00:34:32] Yeah, like, it's just...

[00:34:34] They...

[00:34:34] It's Alabama, so no one's going to give this to them.

[00:34:38] But they do kind of have that excuse, quote-unquote.

[00:34:42] You know, like...

[00:34:43] Yeah.

[00:34:44] Georgia doesn't have that, so just...

[00:34:47] It feels a bit more concerning.

[00:34:49] You know, granted, it wasn't a one-possession game like Alabama's was,

[00:34:53] but still.

[00:34:55] It was close.

[00:34:56] I mean, we got to one-possession in the first quarter.

[00:34:58] It was way closer than it had any business.

[00:35:00] Especially since Mississippi State might be, if not...

[00:35:04] Worst team in the SEC.

[00:35:04] Worst team in the SEC.

[00:35:06] So Toledo is the best team in the SEC, even though they're not in it.

[00:35:10] So...

[00:35:11] Maybe.

[00:35:11] Just wanted to throw that out there.

[00:35:13] No, that's not a problem.

[00:35:15] All right.

[00:35:17] Jordan, any closing thoughts here on Georgia before we move ahead?

[00:35:20] No, just the same thing.

[00:35:21] Like, what is...

[00:35:22] These SEC schools don't run the ball.

[00:35:24] Granted, they had a...

[00:35:25] Georgia had 146 rushing yards, but their top rusher was a running...

[00:35:30] Or a wide receiver.

[00:35:33] So they have less than 100 yards between three running backs they put in the game.

[00:35:37] So it's another thing is they're going to just try to...

[00:35:41] And this is not an Alabama...

[00:35:43] Georgia offense mindset in my head.

[00:35:46] I don't remember them being like this in the last three years.

[00:35:50] Let's out pass you.

[00:35:54] They've...

[00:35:54] And that's what they look like they are trying to do this year.

[00:35:58] Let's out pass teams, which...

[00:36:01] It's good.

[00:36:01] But I think you're going to get to some of these games where you can't do that.

[00:36:05] Or you get behind...

[00:36:06] You know, you're going to have to run the ball.

[00:36:07] And I feel like maybe they're running the same thing Ohio State is.

[00:36:10] I don't know.

[00:36:11] They get pass happy.

[00:36:13] That's not a Georgia way to play, though.

[00:36:15] Ohio State gets pass happy and you turn the ball over.

[00:36:17] And look at what we are seeing from Carson Beck.

[00:36:21] Pass happy in Alabama, three turnovers.

[00:36:25] Pass happy in Mississippi State, two turnovers.

[00:36:28] So, we just saw five turnovers in two games because they throw the ball.

[00:36:33] They've been throwing the ball too much.

[00:36:34] They should just...

[00:36:35] I mean, Mississippi State, they should be able to look at the talent they have,

[00:36:37] run the ball down the throw to Mississippi State, get a big lead,

[00:36:41] and then, you know, just take...

[00:36:43] Rest your guys, get ready for the next game.

[00:36:45] That's what Georgia always does.

[00:36:46] But they're just...

[00:36:47] I don't know.

[00:36:48] They're trying to fix the offense a bit, I feel like.

[00:36:50] I don't know.

[00:36:51] All right.

[00:36:52] Let's move ahead to another team that is having some trouble on offense.

[00:36:55] That's Tennessee where they barely got the offense going in a 23-17 win over Florida.

[00:37:01] Nico, man, we had some praise for him when he was playing Kent State,

[00:37:05] but he is not playing Kent State anymore these last few games.

[00:37:09] And it is showing.

[00:37:10] He had 169 yards and one interception.

[00:37:13] A 17.5 QBR rating in this game.

[00:37:17] Not good.

[00:37:18] Not good at all.

[00:37:19] Graham Mertz, also just a side note of Florida.

[00:37:22] He tore his ACL in this game, and he will be out for his career now.

[00:37:26] He's done with college football.

[00:37:28] So D.J. Lagway will be the quarterback, which I think probably should have happened

[00:37:31] instead of sharing duties.

[00:37:33] Should have happened a couple weeks ago.

[00:37:35] But, yeah, in this game, offense, again, is struggling for Tennessee.

[00:37:38] Luckily, their defense has picked up their slack.

[00:37:40] But is the Tennessee offense broken, Jess?

[00:37:45] I don't think the Tennessee offense is broken.

[00:37:47] I think they've hit a rough patch.

[00:37:49] I mean, you can still see the talent there with Nico.

[00:37:53] Probably is going to need another year, maybe two of development.

[00:37:57] But so far, it hasn't been so bad that they've lost to a team like Florida.

[00:38:09] You know, it was close, but they got the job done.

[00:38:13] And overall, I think they're going to be fine.

[00:38:19] They are clearly not a true contender.

[00:38:23] Granted, right now it feels like there are three true contenders.

[00:38:30] Texas, Ohio State, Oregon.

[00:38:33] You know, again, we just spent the past how long, you know,

[00:38:37] talking about issues with Alabama and Georgia,

[00:38:41] who are two teams expected to go into this year as true contenders.

[00:38:45] Tennessee probably isn't there yet.

[00:38:48] We're going to be talking about them a bit more a little later on, most likely.

[00:38:52] But I think that against teams with susceptible defenses,

[00:38:58] Tennessee will be able to exploit that.

[00:39:00] Their defense still looks, you know, plenty fine.

[00:39:04] You know, Jane Pierce Jr. still looks like one of the better defensive players,

[00:39:11] regardless of position, in the entire country.

[00:39:14] So I think Tennessee is going to be fine.

[00:39:16] It was an intense, hardcore rivalry game.

[00:39:23] I don't know, Justin.

[00:39:24] They lost to Arkansas, and they didn't look great in this one.

[00:39:26] And those are okay teams, but they're not, like, top of the board SEC.

[00:39:29] And they're more talented at both, you know.

[00:39:32] Still, you know, again, it's his first real season starting.

[00:39:36] That's true.

[00:39:37] For all intents and purposes, he's a freshman.

[00:39:41] Red shirt, but still a freshman, you know, in terms of actual playing time.

[00:39:46] I had to watch this game, so I do wonder how his offensive line was.

[00:39:50] Because I saw he had eight carries for a yard.

[00:39:52] So I wonder, like, there's probably some sacks in here, and I have dived deeper into it.

[00:39:56] So I'll try to look at some film this week.

[00:39:58] But I do wonder how the offensive line is protecting him.

[00:40:02] Are they giving him enough time to get the ball down the field?

[00:40:04] Or is he kind of running for his life a little bit, you know?

[00:40:06] He was sacked only three times.

[00:40:08] Still, how many pressures?

[00:40:10] You know, how often was he maybe having to release the ball a little earlier?

[00:40:15] All things that will come from the All-22 that, you know, Tony will have an episode of his film review out, you know, in the next three to four years.

[00:40:25] I call it killer takes.

[00:40:28] See, I don't know.

[00:40:31] Dylan Samson ran the ball quite well.

[00:40:33] I like Dylan Samson.

[00:40:34] He's getting the ball down the floor.

[00:40:38] He's getting the ball down the floor.

[00:40:55] He's had with these last two games, 29 and 26.

[00:40:59] Hasn't had over 200 passing yards.

[00:41:03] Barely gets over 60 completion percentage.

[00:41:05] I do think some of this is they don't want to put too much on his plate.

[00:41:07] Yeah.

[00:41:08] So I feel like it's just slow.

[00:41:10] Yeah.

[00:41:11] If you look at the play-by-play in this game, it was just bad.

[00:41:15] I mean, three plays, punt.

[00:41:18] Four plays, punt.

[00:41:20] Three plays, punt.

[00:41:23] But for like four drives in a row, back and forth.

[00:41:27] I don't know.

[00:41:28] I feel like Tennessee's offense is just not, like they're trying to get Nico more comfortable, I think.

[00:41:36] I think the next few years, I think that's when we'll see Nico push the ball and be more complete quarterback.

[00:41:42] But right now, I think they're trying to slowly integrate him into their offense and see what they can really do with him.

[00:41:49] So, I mean, it's Florida.

[00:41:51] Florida, you never know what you get with Florida.

[00:41:55] Good, bad, ugly.

[00:41:57] You might get all three of them in one game.

[00:42:00] Might for a shoe like they did a couple years ago, you never know.

[00:42:04] That's been the turning point.

[00:42:06] That has been the turning point.

[00:42:07] Florida's descent into darkness began with a shoe.

[00:42:11] That's right.

[00:42:12] All right.

[00:42:13] Let's finish it up here with LSU Ole Miss.

[00:42:16] LSU won a tough game here, 29-26 in overtime.

[00:42:20] I will throw up a gear.

[00:42:21] I was watching this game, and he just made some crazy passes at the end of this game, clutch passes to help win this game for LSU.

[00:42:30] Ole Miss, I think many of us had Ole Miss in our pick for the playoffs, and that looks like it's over with now.

[00:42:37] Unless they run to the table, somehow, you know, some crazy things happen.

[00:42:42] But I think they might be out of it now.

[00:42:44] So, Jordan, any thoughts here on LSU over Ole Miss?

[00:42:48] LSU's defensive line, or just defense, six sacks.

[00:42:55] Just their defense actually kind of showed up against a team that has firepower.

[00:43:00] But, honestly, the Jackson dart has looked kind of wishy-washy the last three weeks.

[00:43:09] And LSU needed this big win to, you know, keep them in the race for that champion, you know, SEC championship.

[00:43:20] But, you know, like you said, Garrett Neismayer finally found something.

[00:43:25] Yeah, he had two turnovers.

[00:43:27] I think the biggest question mark still for me, and this is, I don't know what it is.

[00:43:32] Every SEC team right now just can't run the ball.

[00:43:37] Every team wants to destroy you through the air, and I don't know what it is.

[00:43:41] They're in a Big 12 now.

[00:43:43] It looks like it, because their defenses aren't that great either.

[00:43:47] That's the Oklahoma and Texas influence.

[00:43:51] I don't know what it is.

[00:43:52] It's like Georgia's defense got burnt in a couple games.

[00:43:55] Alabama's defense doesn't look great.

[00:43:58] Ole Miss, I don't think ever in football had a defense.

[00:44:02] LSU's defense looks average, especially in corner and safety.

[00:44:07] So, I don't know.

[00:44:08] SEC is kind of scary defensively for me.

[00:44:11] I still have a question mark.

[00:44:12] But Jackson Dart just, it's another just throw the ball a lot.

[00:44:20] They did have a really good running game.

[00:44:23] But I think LSU just got to him too much on defense.

[00:44:30] So, big win for LSU.

[00:44:32] Ole Miss has really just fallen off since that Kentucky loss.

[00:44:37] Jess, any closing thoughts here before we move on to week eight?

[00:44:42] Yeah, I just, I don't know what to make of Garrett Nussmeyer.

[00:44:46] Garrett, I mean.

[00:44:48] He's high and low, man.

[00:44:51] Which one are we going to get?

[00:44:51] Good, bad, or ugly?

[00:44:53] 22 of 51.

[00:44:55] Under 50% completion.

[00:44:57] But over 300 yards.

[00:44:59] Had three touchdowns, but two interceptions.

[00:45:02] Would miss one guy just completely.

[00:45:05] On a very easy pass, but then make the hardest pass.

[00:45:07] Yeah, but then make this insane layered throw over a linebacker with Pieden running up the hash and puts it perfectly so it's still out of reach for the safety.

[00:45:20] It just made no sense.

[00:45:23] It's Brian Kelly effect for you.

[00:45:25] So, then on the other side, you got Ole Miss, who, yeah, Jackson Dart, more accurate, 24 for 42.

[00:45:39] Still had 284, so it's still a good game.

[00:45:42] One touchdown, one interception.

[00:45:44] But then, you know, Ulysses Bentley, you know, had 11 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown.

[00:45:54] So, he's averaging 9.7 yards a carry.

[00:45:57] His long was a 50-yarder.

[00:45:59] So, that still means that even if you take out his best, biggest run of the game, he's still averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

[00:46:06] And you'd think that they, you know, with that, he would have the most carries, right?

[00:46:12] But the guy who led them in carries was Jackson Dart, who had 15 for 27, 1.8 yards.

[00:46:20] Then you had Henry Parrish, who had 14 carries for 42 yards.

[00:46:25] So, that's 3 yards a carry.

[00:46:27] And then the guy who, of all of those, who had more than one carry, was the best runner.

[00:46:33] But they didn't utilize him the most.

[00:46:36] So, like you're in saying, I just, I have no idea what these teams are doing.

[00:46:39] What these teams are doing, right?

[00:46:40] I don't think they're going to be involved as much, you know.

[00:46:41] What happened to the SEC teams that would have that bell cow back, who they would give the ball to,

[00:46:49] who would run it down the defense's throat, force the defense's to collapse,

[00:46:54] and then they'd have these quarterbacks who could throw it over the top.

[00:46:57] That made these teams so balanced and efficient offensively.

[00:47:02] And that was the difference between them and the Big 12.

[00:47:06] You know, like what happened to that?

[00:47:09] Because it seems like now all of these SEC teams are like going to these new fancy offensive-minded head coaches

[00:47:18] that don't utilize these guys maybe the best way.

[00:47:25] Where it's more about, you know, forcing the players into the system than building a system around the players.

[00:47:32] Yeah.

[00:47:33] So, got to wonder if maybe that's some of the issues here that these guys are dealing with.

[00:47:38] Yeah, I agree.

[00:47:40] All right.

[00:47:42] So, again, good week of games there.

[00:47:44] Looking forward to the next week.

[00:47:45] And that will take us to our week 8 preview.

[00:47:48] All right.

[00:47:48] With the time we have left, we're going to do some rapid fires here.

[00:47:51] First, we're going to tell you who you think is going to win on some of our top matchups.

[00:47:54] Then we'll get into what we think could be some of our potential upset watches.

[00:47:58] So, let's start first with Miami and Louisville.

[00:48:01] So, coming into this game, Louisville obviously is 3-2.

[00:48:05] So, they had that loss against Notre Dame, but then they followed that up with a loss against SMU.

[00:48:09] And then struggled a bit against Virginia.

[00:48:11] I really thought, based on what I saw from Louisville, that they're going to be able to get that offense going

[00:48:15] and start winning.

[00:48:18] But their defense hasn't been as good as it was last year.

[00:48:20] So, I'm a little concerned about that.

[00:48:22] Then you have Miami winning the last two games by five points combined against Cal and Virginia Tech.

[00:48:28] So, quickly, Jess, who do you got?

[00:48:31] Miami or Louisville?

[00:48:33] Give me Miami.

[00:48:34] I just think they're – I think they got the better quarterback.

[00:48:38] I think they got the more talented roster.

[00:48:40] I know I kind of said this, and then, you know, the Cal game was a lot closer than expected.

[00:48:46] But I think Miami is the better team.

[00:48:49] And liking that – I like in the Cal game, I think they're going to pull it out if it's close.

[00:48:54] All right.

[00:48:54] Jordan?

[00:48:55] Yeah, I got Miami as well.

[00:48:56] I think Louisville, since that Notre Dame game, has really shown their true colors

[00:49:01] and how they're not super consistent and can't keep the consistency they had the whole time.

[00:49:07] I do like Louisville's quarterback, but I think Miami just is a better all-around team.

[00:49:13] Give me Louisville.

[00:49:14] They're going to be at home.

[00:49:15] And I think it's finally the time that Miami comes up short after a couple weeks of barely hanging on.

[00:49:22] So, give me Louisville at home.

[00:49:24] All right.

[00:49:25] Next up, we have Nebraska and Indiana.

[00:49:28] Who would have thought this would be one of the top games when the season started?

[00:49:32] But we have Nebraska coming in at 4-1.

[00:49:36] Their only loss is against Illinois at home in overtime.

[00:49:42] Indiana's coming in at 5-0.

[00:49:44] Had really beat many people.

[00:49:45] I mean, they beat Northwestern and Maryland and UCLA as their top wins.

[00:49:52] But they won them all pretty convincingly.

[00:49:55] I mean, all the coach does is he says there is win.

[00:49:57] And so, you know, that's something to look at there.

[00:50:00] Indiana is actually favored by 5.

[00:50:02] So, Jordan, who you got?

[00:50:04] Indiana and Nebraska?

[00:50:06] I have Indiana.

[00:50:07] I like their quarterback.

[00:50:08] I think Dylan Riola is just young.

[00:50:11] Rookie, right?

[00:50:14] Rourke.

[00:50:14] Rourke, sorry.

[00:50:15] Rourke is second in QBR this year.

[00:50:19] I think he just looks good.

[00:50:21] I think Indiana all-around looks good.

[00:50:23] Their least amount of points they scored this year was 31.

[00:50:26] So, I got Indiana.

[00:50:27] Indiana, I think they're going to blow Nebraska out.

[00:50:30] It's at home.

[00:50:32] Indiana looks really, really good this year.

[00:50:35] Jess, you agree?

[00:50:37] Give me Nebraska.

[00:50:39] So, Indiana hasn't faced the greatest competition.

[00:50:43] And Nebraska has been very good defensively.

[00:50:50] They have the 10th best pass rush grade in college football.

[00:50:54] They're the second best defense in points per drive, meaning how often are teams scoring on them per drive?

[00:51:03] Are they giving up points frequently?

[00:51:07] They are not.

[00:51:08] They have the second one.

[00:51:08] They allow less than a point per drive.

[00:51:10] So, Indiana is going to, and their quarterback are going to face the best pass rush and the best defense that they've faced offseason.

[00:51:19] I think that Nebraska is going to be able to throw Indiana off its game with their defense.

[00:51:25] And I think Dylan Rayola has been very consistent.

[00:51:31] They haven't asked too much of him.

[00:51:33] He's not, while he is the focal point of the offense, he's been very efficient.

[00:51:37] I think that'll continue.

[00:51:40] Give me the breath.

[00:51:41] Give me Indiana.

[00:51:42] It's at home.

[00:51:43] I like work.

[00:51:44] I think he's one of the better quarterbacks in the country.

[00:51:46] I like their offense.

[00:51:48] As Jordan said, the lowest amount of points they scored is 41 all year.

[00:51:51] 31.

[00:51:52] 31.

[00:51:52] 31.

[00:51:52] 41.

[00:51:53] No, the FIU game.

[00:51:58] Oh, I was looking at their first game.

[00:51:59] Sorry.

[00:52:00] I apologize for that.

[00:52:02] Yeah, so they, I just feel like, you know, they have it going on offense.

[00:52:06] They haven't had a close game either.

[00:52:08] I just feel like the offense of Nebraska is just not going to be enough to keep up for this game.

[00:52:13] Their defense will hold in check, but only scoring.

[00:52:15] No offense to Rutgers, but only scoring 14 points against Rutgers at home.

[00:52:20] I just feel like you're going to have to do more than that against Indiana on the road and Indiana.

[00:52:25] When was the last time Indiana was undefeated?

[00:52:28] This long of the season.

[00:52:30] Ranked this high.

[00:52:32] At home.

[00:52:34] Sixth season.

[00:52:36] If ever.

[00:52:38] All right.

[00:52:39] So that's that one.

[00:52:40] Let's move on to Alabama at Tennessee.

[00:52:42] Again, this game is at Tennessee.

[00:52:44] And, again, we've talked a little bit about Alabama's struggles, Tennessee's struggles.

[00:52:49] They both come in here with one loss.

[00:52:51] You know, one more loss may knock you out of the playoff, or you may be on the very outskirts in that 10-11-12 range.

[00:52:58] So right now I think Alabama is favored by three on the road against Tennessee.

[00:53:03] So, Jordan, who do you got?

[00:53:04] Alabama, Tennessee?

[00:53:06] This is the hardest game, probably the pick.

[00:53:09] I have Alabama.

[00:53:10] I just think Tennessee offense being so lackluster, it's not going to be able to just compete with the...

[00:53:17] Yeah, Alabama has been lackluster the last three games, but I just think Alabama, Jalen Milrow is just more dynamic than Nico right now.

[00:53:27] And I don't know if that defense is going to be able to hold the whole game without an offense that's going to score.

[00:53:34] All right.

[00:53:35] That's what you got.

[00:53:39] Yeah, this is...

[00:53:40] The hardest game.

[00:53:41] ...tough one.

[00:53:43] Because there have been things I've liked from both teams and things I haven't.

[00:53:50] Yeah, I think give me Alabama.

[00:53:51] I think...

[00:53:53] I think...

[00:53:54] Well, I think in the long run, Nico's going to be the better quarterback.

[00:53:58] You know, especially come NFL and all that.

[00:54:01] Right now, Jalen Milrow's got more experience.

[00:54:05] He's played better teams.

[00:54:07] You know, he's...

[00:54:09] While he hasn't been around like Bo Nix or whatever, you know, he's seen it all.

[00:54:13] He's gone up against all different kinds of opponents.

[00:54:15] He's been able to perform against, you know, varying degrees, but he hasn't been like unspeakably bad against anybody.

[00:54:23] So, going into a hostile environment against a very good team with a very good defense is nothing new to him.

[00:54:31] Give me Alabama.

[00:54:34] I think I'm going to take Tennessee.

[00:54:37] I just think that Tennessee's going to be able to run the ball better and they're going to be at home.

[00:54:42] I think the crowd will be, you know, a factor here.

[00:54:45] And I feel like Tennessee plays better in these bigger matchups, at least with the current coaching staff.

[00:54:52] I don't know how that new coaching staff will do for Alabama here.

[00:54:55] Their back story gets to the wall, but it was last week in South Carolina and they struggled.

[00:54:59] I feel like Tennessee's going to grind this one out.

[00:55:01] So, give me Tennessee at home.

[00:55:05] All right.

[00:55:06] Michigan, Illinois.

[00:55:07] Another interesting game here.

[00:55:10] I think Michigan's favorite by one.

[00:55:15] Over-under is 43 in this game.

[00:55:17] And I think that's pretty high.

[00:55:20] So, who do you guys have?

[00:55:21] Michigan or Illinois?

[00:55:23] Start you, Jess.

[00:55:25] Give me Illinois.

[00:55:27] While I think Michigan's really going to be able to slow down Illinois' run game,

[00:55:32] I just trust that Illinois is going to be able to throw the ball better.

[00:55:38] That's not a lot of trust you need there, I don't think.

[00:55:41] Exactly.

[00:55:42] That's kind of where the bar is right now.

[00:55:45] So, I think both teams are going to be selling out to stop the run.

[00:55:49] And I think Illinois is going to have a bit more success throwing the ball.

[00:55:53] I mean, obviously with Will Johnson, who looks like the best corner in college football that isn't injured.

[00:56:00] Benjamin Morrison and Travis Hunter are both injured now.

[00:56:04] And I already thought Will Johnson was probably the best pure corner.

[00:56:08] Travis Hunter is...

[00:56:10] We'll get into those semantics another time, Tony.

[00:56:15] But, yeah.

[00:56:16] But, I mean, overall, Michigan's secondary has been a little underwhelming this season.

[00:56:22] Like, it hasn't been this elite unit people thought it was going to be,

[00:56:25] especially with all the help up front they've got.

[00:56:28] But, yeah.

[00:56:30] I think Illinois is going to be able to, when the cards are down, throw the ball.

[00:56:34] And Michigan can't.

[00:56:36] Okay.

[00:56:36] Sure.

[00:56:37] Great.

[00:56:37] Yeah.

[00:56:38] I got Illinois on this one as well.

[00:56:39] I think Michigan just can't, like, not being able to pass the ball forward really, really, really hurts you.

[00:56:51] And I do like Altmeier.

[00:56:53] He's pretty consistent with 67.7% passing.

[00:56:59] 14 touchdowns and one interception.

[00:57:01] Yeah.

[00:57:01] Really accurate, really consistent.

[00:57:03] Doesn't make dumb plays.

[00:57:05] And I think that right there is why Illinois is going to win this game.

[00:57:08] I just think Michigan.

[00:57:10] I mean, Edwards comes back, but I haven't seen him do anything.

[00:57:15] I think he played pretty well last week.

[00:57:18] We'll have Mullins.

[00:57:19] They'll be able to run.

[00:57:19] But, I mean, if they still out to get the run, I don't think Michigan's going to do it.

[00:57:24] I think.

[00:57:25] Not at all.

[00:57:26] And we've already seen Illinois can win in a shootout.

[00:57:29] They won last week 50-49 against Purdue.

[00:57:32] So, they can put up points and pass the ball consistently.

[00:57:35] So, I just think Illinois.

[00:57:38] It's the pass game.

[00:57:39] If you can throw the ball a little bit and stop the run a little bit, you win.

[00:57:44] That's a great fact.

[00:57:46] All right.

[00:57:47] I have Illinois.

[00:57:47] I think this one's easy.

[00:57:49] If it was at Michigan, I might give a little bit of pause.

[00:57:51] But I do think at Illinois with the ability to be able to pass the ball, there should be enough to win this game here.

[00:57:58] All right.

[00:57:59] Let's move on to some potential upset games.

[00:58:01] So, we'll start first with Oregon and Purdue.

[00:58:04] So, I put here because, obviously, I think Purdue – I don't know if Purdue has won a game.

[00:58:09] They won, what, one game this year?

[00:58:10] One and five?

[00:58:11] Two and five?

[00:58:15] Yeah.

[00:58:15] I think they won one.

[00:58:16] Yeah.

[00:58:17] One and five.

[00:58:18] One and five.

[00:58:19] And their one game won one was against Indiana State.

[00:58:22] All those sudden.

[00:58:22] And then, it's Illinois last week.

[00:58:23] They scored 49 points.

[00:58:24] So, that's crazy for Purdue.

[00:58:27] But I say this as a potential upset because, you know, there's that thing where Purdue just beats good teams when they should have beat good teams.

[00:58:36] Like the Ohio State team from a couple years ago.

[00:58:39] You know.

[00:58:40] And so, they beat good teams like that.

[00:58:42] And this – my struggle here is Oregon is going to be traveling across the country to Purdue after this tough physical battle against Ohio State.

[00:58:52] They have to get up to play a one and five Purdue team on the road at night where Purdue is crazy at night on the stadium.

[00:59:00] I mean, there's a recipe for success there.

[00:59:03] They are favored by 28 and a half points.

[00:59:06] So, Jess, do you see any chance of upset happens in this game?

[00:59:11] Yeah.

[00:59:11] Yeah.

[00:59:12] I was thinking pretty much along those exact lines earlier where, like, coming off this major emotional close game.

[00:59:25] You know, the game that kind of was the game everybody had marked on their calendar entering the year.

[00:59:35] Purdue's got this history.

[00:59:37] And I do think that will play a factor.

[00:59:40] But I don't think Purdue's going to upset.

[00:59:44] I think this game – I think this is the kind of game where a lot of people are going to make the pick that Purdue loses but covers.

[00:59:55] You know, I think this game will be closer than maybe it has any right to be.

[00:59:59] But I think ultimately Oregon prevails.

[01:00:01] I just – I can't – I can't pick Purdue.

[01:00:05] Jordan, are you picking Purdue?

[01:00:06] No, I'm not.

[01:00:08] Even though Purdue does have nine wins against top two opponents and the next closest one is five.

[01:00:15] So, Purdue definitely is a number two giant slayer.

[01:00:20] Give me the points, though.

[01:00:22] I could take that.

[01:00:23] 28.5.

[01:00:24] If Oregon was blowing out teams left and right all season besides this Ohio State game, I might not pick the spread.

[01:00:31] But I think they win easily three touchdowns.

[01:00:35] But I just don't see any way Purdue does anything productive enough to win against Oregon.

[01:00:45] Look at the Notre Dame game for Purdue and then let's talk.

[01:00:50] But look at the game against Illinois.

[01:00:51] It just happened.

[01:00:52] You know, they scored 49 points.

[01:00:53] It's a pretty good defensive team, I would say, in Illinois.

[01:00:56] Illinois just can't run the ball that well.

[01:00:58] I am – oh, I want to pick upset.

[01:01:02] If he picks the upset, guys, sorry, Purdue, they're going to get blown out.

[01:01:06] So, I'm going to pick Oregon because I do love my alma mater with Purdue.

[01:01:09] And hopefully that's the double jinx to cause Oregon to lose because we all picked Oregon.

[01:01:15] Before I move on with the potential upset games, Jordan, thank you for reminding me.

[01:01:19] We did forget the biggest game of the week, Georgia versus Texas.

[01:01:22] I don't know why I had my potential upset because I don't think really even this winner would be an upset here.

[01:01:29] So, we have Georgia versus Texas.

[01:01:32] It's even.

[01:01:34] So, I think, I mean, nobody's favored in this game, which is surprising to me.

[01:01:38] I thought Texas would – well, I guess Texas is giving three and a half maybe in some places.

[01:01:42] So, I guess where you're looking.

[01:01:44] But – so, who do you guys have in this one?

[01:01:47] It's at Texas.

[01:01:48] Georgia has been struggling.

[01:01:49] Texas has not.

[01:01:50] But I will say Texas has gone off to some very slow starts in some of their games before picking it up.

[01:01:56] So, with that being said, I'll start you, Jess.

[01:01:58] Who you got, Texas or Georgia?

[01:02:02] First, Texas is favored by three and a half.

[01:02:05] And the over-under is set at 56, at least according to CBS.

[01:02:11] Give me Texas.

[01:02:14] I think so far they've looked like the most complete team in the country.

[01:02:19] Yours didn't have a great game, especially by his standards against Oklahoma.

[01:02:27] But, you know, another week of where he's practicing, he's going to be fine, I think.

[01:02:34] But, you know, we were just talking about this earlier.

[01:02:38] Georgia was having some issues against Mississippi State.

[01:02:41] Alabama was able to pick them apart in the first half.

[01:02:44] And even then was still able to get these crazy plays going to just hold them all.

[01:02:50] So, give me Texas.

[01:02:51] And I do think Texas will cover.

[01:02:55] Jordan?

[01:02:56] I got Texas as well.

[01:02:57] I just think Georgia.

[01:02:59] Carson Beck has not shown enough to me to be the better quarterback in this game.

[01:03:05] And I think Texas right now just has figured it out this season.

[01:03:12] Running, passing, defense, offense.

[01:03:15] And I think Georgia is still trying to find that.

[01:03:17] And I think it's going to be a field goal.

[01:03:22] I think it's going to come down to the wire.

[01:03:24] Whoever ends up with the ball at the end wins.

[01:03:27] But I got Texas on this one.

[01:03:30] Give me Georgia.

[01:03:31] Georgia is my championship pick.

[01:03:33] I can't go against Georgia now.

[01:03:35] So, Georgia will win this game.

[01:03:36] They're gone if they're out.

[01:03:38] They're out.

[01:03:38] They lose this game if they're out.

[01:03:39] So, I think Kirby Smart is going to come in here angry.

[01:03:42] And I don't think they're going to lose this game when him coming in here angry.

[01:03:45] And if they do, then, yeah, he definitely has may have lost that locker room a little bit.

[01:03:50] All right.

[01:03:50] Let's move back to the upsets.

[01:03:52] Quickly here we have Auburn at Missouri.

[01:03:54] Missouri is favored by seven.

[01:03:56] I put this game down because Missouri obviously has been struggling a little bit this year.

[01:04:01] They barely beat BC.

[01:04:03] Obviously, they beat a pretty good Vanderbilt team now in double overtime.

[01:04:07] They lost to Texas A&M 41-10.

[01:04:10] They recovered this past week against Massachusetts, but it's Massachusetts.

[01:04:15] But Auburn, you know, they've lost a lot of games, but it's still Auburn.

[01:04:19] They still have a lot of talent on this team.

[01:04:21] So, who do you got in this game?

[01:04:22] Do you have the upsets or not?

[01:04:23] So, Jess, Missouri or Auburn?

[01:04:26] Honestly, with how Missouri looked once they faced real competition,

[01:04:32] if this was at Auburn, I would take Auburn.

[01:04:36] But it's at Missouri.

[01:04:38] You know, they get it in front of the home fans.

[01:04:41] Not going to be as much pressure, I guess, in that regard.

[01:04:46] So, I think they're going to win.

[01:04:49] Give me Missouri.

[01:04:51] Do you agree?

[01:04:51] Yeah, I have Missouri.

[01:04:53] I think Missouri is just a better team than Auburn.

[01:04:58] Auburn just kind of looks lost a lot of the time when you watch them play.

[01:05:02] And they're just not where Auburn should be.

[01:05:06] Like Jess said, if they were at home, I think it would be different.

[01:05:10] But being at Missouri and Missouri knowing for sure they have to win every game

[01:05:16] the rest of the season to have something, this is not going to be the game they lose.

[01:05:23] All right.

[01:05:24] I will go ahead and pick Missouri in this one.

[01:05:26] I think it's your point.

[01:05:27] I think Auburn was at home.

[01:05:30] I mean, if Auburn was at home, they would really win.

[01:05:32] But I have Missouri in this one.

[01:05:34] All right.

[01:05:35] Let's move ahead to Army, East Carolina.

[01:05:37] We picked this one for Jess.

[01:05:38] This is his old East Carolina team going against the juggernaut that is Army

[01:05:44] with a lot of rushing yards there, I think.

[01:05:47] So, you know, Army has just been decimating people.

[01:05:50] Not even a close game in sight.

[01:05:52] So, is this the game that East Carolina gets things right, Jess,

[01:05:57] and gets to 4-3?

[01:05:59] So, start you, your hometown team.

[01:06:05] No.

[01:06:06] No, it is not.

[01:06:08] Army is unstoppable on the ground.

[01:06:12] ECU has a below average run defense.

[01:06:15] Doesn't matter who we put at quarterback.

[01:06:17] They're going to throw interceptions.

[01:06:19] 12 interceptions by Garcia.

[01:06:21] Who's the starting quarterback now?

[01:06:23] I think they're going to be moving to...

[01:06:29] God, I'm drawing in blank on his name.

[01:06:31] Give me one second.

[01:06:34] I think they're going to be moving to...

[01:06:38] Caden Hauser.

[01:06:40] Hauser.

[01:06:42] He got the majority of the reps against Charlotte,

[01:06:46] where we lost by 21.

[01:06:48] 31.

[01:06:49] 31.

[01:06:50] Sorry.

[01:06:50] 31.

[01:06:53] He finished 11 of 28.

[01:06:55] Oh, God.

[01:06:56] 84 yards and an interception.

[01:06:59] Oh, God.

[01:07:00] Is this Michigan up to what we're talking about here?

[01:07:02] Wait, how many passes do they have?

[01:07:04] How many attempts?

[01:07:06] Hauser had 28 attempts, completed 11,

[01:07:09] and had 84 total yards.

[01:07:13] Just so you know, Army's quarterback has only thrown the ball 37 times all year.

[01:07:22] Well, we had a total of 37 pass attempts against Charlotte.

[01:07:30] Okay.

[01:07:31] And we...

[01:07:34] We didn't do very good.

[01:07:36] It was actually 6 of 8 for 111 yards, a touchdown and interception.

[01:07:41] So, I don't know why that was all of a sudden.

[01:07:45] I mean, I wasn't...

[01:07:46] I didn't watch the game.

[01:07:47] No pressure for being a starter.

[01:07:49] I couldn't watch the game.

[01:07:50] I didn't have that mean.

[01:07:52] Made it physically sick.

[01:07:53] The real question here, guys, is...

[01:07:55] Is 396 rushing yards average a game going to happen again?

[01:08:03] Is Army going to rush for 400 rushing yards this game?

[01:08:07] ECU's allowing about 150 a game.

[01:08:11] Oh, so 450 is going to...

[01:08:13] Okay.

[01:08:13] Yeah.

[01:08:14] Army, take it away.

[01:08:15] We need that 600 rushing yards this game.

[01:08:19] Let's go.

[01:08:20] That might be upset.

[01:08:20] Are you calling me upset?

[01:08:22] My team...

[01:08:23] Oh!

[01:08:23] My football team this year do nothing but make me...

[01:08:29] I'm sorry, but...

[01:08:31] Giants suck probably losing our second best player for the year in Andrew Thomas.

[01:08:36] There goes our offensive line.

[01:08:37] I really do not think...

[01:08:40] Rutgers, the moment we start playing...

[01:08:42] It's all right, Jess.

[01:08:43] It's all right.

[01:08:44] It sucks.

[01:08:45] It's all right.

[01:08:46] Army...

[01:08:47] Help me!

[01:08:48] Army is averaging 369 rushing yards a game.

[01:08:54] They have 26 rushing touchdowns.

[01:08:56] And as a team, they have 2,219 rushing yards.

[01:09:01] They average 6.9 rushes...

[01:09:03] Or yards a rush.

[01:09:05] They've rushed the bar 323 times.

[01:09:08] Army is going to run circles around Eastern Carolina.

[01:09:14] And it's not going to be fun.

[01:09:16] Maybe we should live stream and watch it while we watch the game.

[01:09:19] I don't know.

[01:09:20] Honestly, sorry.

[01:09:21] For me...

[01:09:22] I don't know if it's fun to watch an Army game.

[01:09:26] I probably not.

[01:09:27] Especially when you're playing against Army.

[01:09:28] Especially if you're a receiver.

[01:09:30] No.

[01:09:31] No, you definitely don't want to watch the receiver.

[01:09:33] All right.

[01:09:33] I'm going to pick Army as well.

[01:09:35] But...

[01:09:36] Could be close.

[01:09:37] Never know what happens in these type of games.

[01:09:39] Oh, we know what happens in these type of games.

[01:09:42] Army rushes for 400...

[01:09:43] Hard out.

[01:09:43] That's what they do.

[01:09:44] Just so everyone knows...

[01:09:47] The week prior to this game, Army did rush for 413 yards.

[01:09:56] Yeah.

[01:09:56] Just so everybody knows.

[01:09:59] You're just rubbing a salt in the wounds.

[01:10:01] 7.4 yards a carry.

[01:10:03] 56 rushes.

[01:10:07] I can't.

[01:10:09] Hey.

[01:10:09] That might be the week that they get stopped.

[01:10:11] They can not film now.

[01:10:12] Maybe he's going to like...

[01:10:12] Oh, they can't stop that.

[01:10:14] I don't know.

[01:10:14] Who can?

[01:10:15] All right.

[01:10:16] Let's move ahead to Notre Dame at Georgia Tech.

[01:10:19] I put this on here because Georgia Tech is a sneaky team.

[01:10:21] 5-2.

[01:10:23] They have some decent wins.

[01:10:24] They gave Duke their first loss.

[01:10:26] 24-14.

[01:10:27] They had a pretty good win against not a great North Carolina team.

[01:10:32] 41-34.

[01:10:35] They did put up a really good fight against Syracuse.

[01:10:37] He's lost 31-28.

[01:10:38] They obviously beat for the state to start the year.

[01:10:41] They have some pieces.

[01:10:42] Haynes King is...

[01:10:43] Qualey had a pretty good season.

[01:10:45] He has thrown for over 1,568 yards, eight touchdowns, one interception.

[01:10:51] So 70% completion rate.

[01:10:53] So he's having a pretty quiet but productive year there for Georgia Tech.

[01:10:57] And then obviously Notre Dame, you can't take anybody lightly after Northern Illinois.

[01:11:02] So who do you guys have in this one?

[01:11:05] Start you, Jordan.

[01:11:06] I got Notre Dame.

[01:11:07] But I feel like this one's going to be scary.

[01:11:10] It is at Mercedes-Benz.

[01:11:12] Yep, it is.

[01:11:13] But it's in Georgia.

[01:11:14] So it's in Atlanta.

[01:11:16] Georgia Tech's in Atlanta.

[01:11:17] So basically it's not really not a home game for Georgia Tech.

[01:11:23] But no, I got Notre Dame.

[01:11:24] I think their defense is going to be one of the better ones Georgia Tech...

[01:11:28] One of the best ones Georgia Tech has seen all year.

[01:11:30] And are going to be able to stop everything that Georgia Tech throws at them.

[01:11:36] And I think Riley Leonard is finally finding his stride on this offense.

[01:11:41] And hopefully he just continues.

[01:11:43] So I got Notre Dame on this one.

[01:11:44] I think that they're 8.5 or 11.

[01:11:49] They're 11-point favorites.

[01:11:50] So I think they cover that.

[01:11:52] Jess, who do you got?

[01:11:54] Notre Dame.

[01:11:55] I think they're just a better team despite the injuries that they've sustained.

[01:11:59] We need more empathize.

[01:12:01] We need to be more happy when you say this.

[01:12:04] Well, we just got off of like five minutes about talking about my alma mater.

[01:12:09] No, we were talking about Army.

[01:12:13] The difference is we were talking about Army and not...

[01:12:17] I'm a static Notre Dame fan.

[01:12:18] We were not talking about your alma mater.

[01:12:21] We were just talking about how Army is going to beat your alma mater.

[01:12:24] It's different.

[01:12:26] That doesn't make it better.

[01:12:29] Give me Notre Dame.

[01:12:31] Yeah, I'll take Notre Dame on this one.

[01:12:34] Haines King is hurt.

[01:12:35] He may not play.

[01:12:36] If he does, he's not going to be 100%.

[01:12:38] I am worried a little bit about the defensive injuries.

[01:12:41] I mean, they're six or seven starters down for the year on defense, and they're playing

[01:12:45] a lot of young freshmen on the Notre Dame side.

[01:12:47] So it's something to keep an eye on.

[01:12:48] But as Jordan mentioned, Riley Leonard has seemed to have gotten it together on the offense.

[01:12:53] So offense may have to pick up the slack a little bit in some of these games where the defense

[01:12:56] is a little short-handed.

[01:12:57] So give me Notre Dame on this one.

[01:13:00] And then the final game, LSU and Arkansas.

[01:13:03] So obviously Arkansas has already beaten Texas.

[01:13:05] Tennessee is here.

[01:13:06] So will they pull up another upset?

[01:13:09] This will be at home at 7 p.m.

[01:13:12] You know, those nighttime games in SEC can always be tricky.

[01:13:15] So Jordan, who you got here?

[01:13:16] Arkansas, LSU.

[01:13:19] I'm going to go with the upset.

[01:13:20] I got Arkansas.

[01:13:21] I like Arkansas.

[01:13:22] Arkansas, they are a scrappy team, really close.

[01:13:27] Green's pretty consistent passing.

[01:13:30] Otherwise, he turns the ball over a lot.

[01:13:31] But that doesn't matter.

[01:13:32] Nussmeyer does as well.

[01:13:34] The biggest thing for me is LSU cannot run the ball.

[01:13:38] And that's all I got going right now.

[01:13:42] If you can't run the ball against Arkansas, they're just going to beat you not.

[01:13:48] It's going to be close.

[01:13:49] I think it's going to be a super low-scoring game.

[01:13:54] But I think Arkansas is going to be able to pull this one out like they did last week against Tennessee.

[01:13:59] All right.

[01:14:01] Jess, what do you got?

[01:14:06] Give me LSU.

[01:14:08] I think they're riding high.

[01:14:10] I think that they've shown that while mildly inconsistent, they clearly have a lot of talent.

[01:14:17] I think that because of that Tennessee game that Arkansas had, LSU is going to – I don't think they're going to sleep on Arkansas the way maybe Tennessee did.

[01:14:28] Give me LSU.

[01:14:31] Give me Arkansas.

[01:14:32] If Taylor Green plays, I don't know if you guys remember in that Tennessee game.

[01:14:35] They didn't play last week because of the bye.

[01:14:37] But he got that low blow, kind of a dirty play, a little blow where he hurt his knee.

[01:14:43] They're trying to see if he's going to be ready to go.

[01:14:45] If he doesn't play, then, yeah, I think LSU wins.

[01:14:47] If he does play and he's perfective, then, yeah, give me Arkansas to win here at home at night.

[01:14:53] All right.

[01:14:53] Well, that wraps up all the games for this week, guys.

[01:14:56] It should be a really great week of college football.

[01:14:58] It could be some upsets here.

[01:15:00] And it could be some more clarity into the playoff picture as we get closer to the end of the season.

[01:15:07] But until next time, guys, we'll talk to you soon.

[01:15:10] Bye.

[01:15:13] Bye.
