[00:00:33] Alright guys, we are back! Welcome to the latest episode in the Flat Podcast. I'm your

[00:00:37] host Tony Kill. Join again, Jess and Jordan. We're bringing you the second podcast this

[00:00:41] week because we had so much we had to get to. We could have done it in one podcast this

[00:00:45] week. Since we last left you, Florida State has lost again. They may have lost the second

[00:00:49] time this week. Who knows? We'll have to take a look at what's going on there in

[00:00:52] Florida. We have some news in the Pac-12 or whatever they're called now, the Pac-2.

[00:00:57] The new AP poll was released. And then we want to get into some more deeper previews

[00:01:02] for week two here. Dive deeper into some of those matchups that we talked about earlier

[00:01:06] this week, but also some that we didn't talk about.

[00:01:09] So let's get started first with Florida State. So Florida State played Boston College Monday

[00:01:13] night and lost 28-13 and it probably wasn't even that close. Boston College just really

[00:01:19] owned the line of scrimmage, owned this game from start to finish. I don't even think

[00:01:23] there was ever... I'd never doubted Boston College was going to win this game. It

[00:01:26] was like up to 14-0 at one point and they never really looked back. Their quarterback,

[00:01:31] Castellanos, looking at the game, he thought he had all kinds of numbers. He only

[00:01:35] freeed for 106 yards and ran for 73 more. All their running backs, 85 yards for

[00:01:40] Robachak, number 77 yards for War, 28 yards for Richard. So they had some good play

[00:01:46] there and then their defense played well against Florida State. DJU did not

[00:01:50] play well. So what's going on in Florida State guys? Jess, we'll start you man.

[00:01:54] In your opinion, what is the problem down there in Florida? I think I was

[00:01:59] the lowest on Florida State coming into the air out of all of us, but I think

[00:02:04] it's like I was saying that they don't have any chemistry. This is a team that

[00:02:08] was essentially just built through the transfer portal. They lost several of

[00:02:14] their top players to the draft. They just... this isn't... this is a team

[00:02:21] that might get better down the line, but I don't think anybody was expecting them

[00:02:30] to start the season 0-2. Even their biggest detractors. There is clearly

[00:02:34] something going wrong there. I think it does start with the quarterback. DJ has

[00:02:40] been not bad. He's been terrible the first two weeks. I don't think they

[00:02:45] move off him just yet because right now the two guys behind him on the

[00:02:50] depth chart are Brock Glenn and Luke Chromen Hoek. God, that's a name. Both of

[00:02:59] them are freshmen with the third-stringer Chromen Hoek. It appears to be a true

[00:03:05] freshman while Glenn is a red shirt freshman. So it's not like they have

[00:03:11] experience behind DJ. You're not winning. You might as well throw Glenn in

[00:03:16] and see what he's got at quarterback if that was me. Maybe. He played in a

[00:03:21] bowl game last year, right? Great. But you gotta hope that you can develop them

[00:03:25] and make them into something. But I feel like they really liked him though.

[00:03:29] They would have went out and got DJ. Their next couple of games aren't gonna be

[00:03:34] cakewalks either. Memphis... Memphis might win. Both of these games are at

[00:03:41] Florida State. You got Memphis and Cal then at SMU before you

[00:03:46] host Clemson. If you're gonna start one of those guys, I think you gotta do it

[00:03:50] before Clemson because even though Clemson did not look good in week one against

[00:03:54] Georgia, their defense still played well. It was out on the field the whole

[00:03:59] time because they couldn't get a first down. So you're not gonna want a

[00:04:05] freshman, a true freshman, a red shirt freshman to come in and have to...

[00:04:09] It's like all right, regular season. Your first snaps. Clemson. That's

[00:04:13] not gonna go. So they either gotta make the decision in the next two weeks or you

[00:04:18] gotta just ride out with DJ the whole season. Neither option is sounds too

[00:04:24] appealing to me. Yeah, no. I tend to agree. I feel like this... In my opinion, the

[00:04:30] season's a wash. Go ahead and get your young guys in and let's just see what

[00:04:34] you got and play for next year at this point. What do you think, Jordan?

[00:04:37] Would you give up hope at this point or would you try to keep tin you with

[00:04:40] what you're doing? I think... I feel like give up hope. I just feel like they've lost

[00:04:45] and it wasn't like they lost to other ranked opponents. Georgia Tech, Boston

[00:04:50] College and I just don't see DJU growing, getting better throughout the

[00:04:56] season. Just so you know the crazy part ESPN

[00:04:59] Bet still has Florida State winning the Clemson game

[00:05:03] and has them for the Miami game. That sits way too far out to

[00:05:09] trust anything like that. The fact that it's even still like that is

[00:05:13] boggling to me but... I'm just... There's no way that stays, right?

[00:05:18] There's no way. If so, I'll go put some money on Miami right now.

[00:05:21] Yeah, I would do the Clemson one. Take those odds right now. Do the Clemson one.

[00:05:25] It's three and a half Florida State minus three and a half for Florida State.

[00:05:29] Clemson one. I don't know if I trust Clemson. Would that be the game

[00:05:32] they would just be terrible in offense and Florida State finds a way to win?

[00:05:35] Because you bet. Yeah, I don't know.

[00:05:38] But I just feel like this game... I don't know what it is. They've lost three games

[00:05:43] since they started 13-0 last year. I don't know what's going on there.

[00:05:48] They ran the ball only 16 times this past on Monday.

[00:05:53] I don't know if it's all players. The players are just not or if

[00:05:58] it's... If their head coach is just... I feel like all the momentum Florida State had at the end of

[00:06:06] the season going into that College 12 playoff is all gone.

[00:06:11] I read a saw stat. Is it like a coach like 2-10 without Jordan Travis?

[00:06:17] Was that whole team because of Jordan Travis or what do you think there?

[00:06:22] I definitely think it was Jordan Travis. He was that team. He was all over.

[00:06:27] He was throw the ball, run the ball. He was that guy on offense and they don't have that anymore.

[00:06:32] They don't have that star that's going to show out even if it's not the quarterback.

[00:06:37] If it's a running back, if it's a receiver that's going to put 100-plus yards a game up,

[00:06:41] they don't have that star. They don't have that leader either.

[00:06:44] He was the front and center and he got it, got them motivated.

[00:06:48] I think his play got the defensive play harder, offensive play harder.

[00:06:52] Without that right now, what motivation do the guys have?

[00:06:54] All right. Moving on to a little bit of news here. Packed at the Mountain West Conference of Mr.

[00:07:00] 2025 deadline for scheduling arrangement. What does that mean? It means that right now,

[00:07:04] we're going to say Washington State both have about four or five games under schedule for next year

[00:07:08] when their football agreement right now with the Mountain West is over.

[00:07:13] If you were these two teams, I always forget about these teams.

[00:07:16] I don't even see them and I haven't heard about them. I don't know how they did week one.

[00:07:19] They're the only undefeated conference left. Just so you know.

[00:07:24] I just, down the run of the conference, they're not even like an independent.

[00:07:27] You just don't really hear about them. What would you guys do if you were Oregon State,

[00:07:30] Washington State here? Start of your Jordan, what would be your next step?

[00:07:34] Would you be contacting the Big 12? Would you be trying to start a new Pack 12 with the Mountain

[00:07:38] West? What are you thinking here? I feel like the joining the Mountain West right now is the

[00:07:43] smartest option. I think the Big 12, I don't think these conferences are going to be taken.

[00:07:48] They don't want to take anywhere on. Big 10 took a bunch of teams on.

[00:07:53] Big 12, Pack, they had the Big 12 has. I feel like the Mountain West, especially how these

[00:07:58] teams have really not been the best teams, they're more fitted for that Mountain West conference.

[00:08:06] If you're the AD and you want Colt 12 playoffs, you were in a the Pack 12. You were in a

[00:08:13] Power 5 conference. Drop down to that Google 5 conference. Drop down and dominate that conference.

[00:08:20] You have the Power 5 team players, so go dominate the Ballon West for a couple years.

[00:08:27] Yeah, just for you to agree? Yeah, I don't really have much to add there.

[00:08:35] What else can they really do? Join Rutgers.

[00:08:39] Rutgers, three people. Oh, yeah, Rutgers. Vanderbilt. Yeah, Vanderbilt. And then we can also add

[00:08:47] your other team. What's your LL? ECU and they can just make a conference.

[00:08:52] That's true. Nice global conference of teams. It's as spread out as the Big 10 currently is.

[00:08:58] You see the new Big 10 ads and it literally just goes coast to coast. Do you mind as well?

[00:09:03] Yeah, I might as well at this point. Conferences don't even mean anything geographically anymore.

[00:09:09] I really hope they eventually go back forever like basketball, baseball and all that.

[00:09:15] I hope they stick to more regional in the future. All right, let's talk about the AP

[00:09:18] poll that was released. Let me see. The top 10 here you have Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Alabama,

[00:09:24] Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State and Missouri, and Michigan in the top 10.

[00:09:31] The risers and followers here you had Texas moving from four to three,

[00:09:35] Alabama from five to four, Notre Dame from seven to five, Oregon drops from three to seven,

[00:09:42] Missouri from eleven to nine, Michigan drops from nine to ten. Let me see if there's any

[00:09:54] drops. 13 to 18. Yeah, I think those are the biggest ones in Kansas.

[00:09:59] Clemson dropped 11. Miami went from 19 to 12.

[00:10:01] But I guess Florida State probably has the biggest drop. I did.

[00:10:04] Oh, Clemson dropped 11.

[00:10:07] But I think Florida State dropped on like 20.

[00:10:09] Yeah, Florida State's out.

[00:10:11] Yeah, they're not in there.

[00:10:12] I don't think Florida State even got a vote.

[00:10:16] They did this week. They were number 10 last week. So they're out of the top 25.

[00:10:19] So they're farthest drop because they drop all the way out of the top 25.

[00:10:22] They're not even in the in consideration area.

[00:10:25] Yeah, no, they're dead.

[00:10:26] So yeah, any any surprises or issues with this new top 25?

[00:10:30] Starve you, Jesse.

[00:10:32] Honestly, no. I actually do like that, you know, Oregon despite my thoughts on them,

[00:10:39] they were penalized and it wasn't just like they dropped one spot.

[00:10:43] No, they dropped a full four spots despite winning.

[00:10:47] I think that's a good sign for the rank the AP rankings this year.

[00:10:51] I haven't really had too much to say USC got their due diligence.

[00:10:55] Miami got respect.

[00:10:57] Michigan, another team that didn't look great really at all.

[00:11:03] They did what they had to do.

[00:11:04] They had that big Will Johnson ball don't lie moment,

[00:11:07] but they still were penalized despite winning.

[00:11:10] Miami did it. I missed it, but they did raise seven from 1912.

[00:11:15] From 19 to 12. I don't really have an issue.

[00:11:18] I would maybe consider putting Notre Dame over Alabama.

[00:11:23] I think that Notre Dame's win was much more impressive.

[00:11:27] Obviously, didn't Alabama play like Western Kentucky?

[00:11:30] I think it was in week one and they won 63-0 or something.

[00:11:33] It was crazy.

[00:11:34] As bad as Texas A&M has been.

[00:11:37] I don't think they've ever been Western Kentucky bad despite their issues the past few years.

[00:11:42] Again, respect to Western Kentucky.

[00:11:46] You went out there you got paid, but Notre Dame beating A&M,

[00:11:51] who I think we all think is not going to be terrible this year.

[00:11:56] Just not SEC good and maybe not up to where they should be with previous recruiting classes.

[00:12:02] But I think Notre Dame could be moved up to that four spot.

[00:12:05] But really, I don't have anything to say much.

[00:12:09] Okay. Jordan, any issues or surprises from you?

[00:12:13] No, I think they did a good job like Jess said, Oregon dropping four.

[00:12:17] I think the only reason they didn't put Notre Dame above Alabama is they didn't.

[00:12:23] I feel like there wasn't a big enough reason to push Notre Dame three spots up.

[00:12:30] Yeah, they'd be texting that, but I think they didn't want to push them.

[00:12:35] Honestly, if you just looked at who the teams played,

[00:12:37] if you were to just have a blank slate and there was no preseason AP poll, Georgia would be number one.

[00:12:44] You have Notre Dame, Miami, Penn State.

[00:12:48] Those should be the teams at the top because or USC,

[00:12:50] show you the teams because they played someone.

[00:12:52] Is there ever teams you don't know anything about them yet?

[00:12:54] Yeah, Alabama beat West Kentucky or Ole Miss beat Thurman,

[00:12:58] which just Loone this week is in South Carolina.

[00:13:00] Yeah, but what do we know about these teams?

[00:13:03] We just know they beat a bad team by a lot like they're close to.

[00:13:05] I just want to point one thing out.

[00:13:07] You guys noticed that Alabama has beaten TJ Finley on three different teams.

[00:13:12] They did.

[00:13:13] He's got to get away from them.

[00:13:15] LSU, Auburn and now Western Kentucky.

[00:13:18] Oh my God.

[00:13:19] Yep, he gets around.

[00:13:20] He was in North Texas last year, but he didn't play.

[00:13:22] I don't think he played on them last year.

[00:13:23] No.

[00:13:24] That's the big issue that I have with a lot of these week one matchups.

[00:13:30] They're just tuning tune up games for Alabama.

[00:13:33] It feels, as Tony said, we don't know anything more about Alabama or Ole Miss or Tennessee really.

[00:13:41] And I wonder, do these teams regret not playing?

[00:13:43] I mean, I guess you have two sides of the coin.

[00:13:46] Well, they regret not playing a tough team early.

[00:13:49] So when they do play a tough team later, it won't be like a shock to the system.

[00:13:53] Or would you like Brian Kelly, like they LSU plays every year.

[00:13:58] These tough teams, they always lose.

[00:13:59] But that's what you have to get your team up for because you have to be able

[00:14:01] to at least challenge yourself.

[00:14:02] And I'm not saying I have to go out.

[00:14:04] Like Alabama has played Georgia week one, I'm thinking, can they go out and play like a top

[00:14:07] 25 team like Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Arizona week one and challenge themselves a bit?

[00:14:14] That way when they get to these tough games, like when Alabama plays Georgia in a couple

[00:14:18] weeks, it's not going to be like a shock to the system because they haven't played anybody yet.

[00:14:21] I feel like I want the NCAA to adapt and take on the NFL system a little bit scheduling.

[00:14:31] You know, the SEC champions going to play the ACC or the Big Ten champion that, you know,

[00:14:38] the first or second week of the season.

[00:14:39] And we're going to see the best teams play each other from each conference, you know, at some

[00:14:46] Yeah, because what's the here's the thing with the conference games now.

[00:14:49] What they won't hurt you if you lose.

[00:14:51] So you should be scared to play him because if you lose,

[00:14:55] you can learn from him and as long as you win your conference, you're in the playoff.

[00:14:59] It doesn't matter about your record.

[00:15:00] That's the main thing.

[00:15:02] Again, as long as you don't get blown out, I feel like they're not if Texas beats

[00:15:08] this if if Texas beats Michigan this week and Texas wins 31 24 or 31 20 something like that.

[00:15:18] It's a close type respectable game.

[00:15:21] Is that truly going to be how much is that going to be held against Michigan later on?

[00:15:26] If they're like, if it comes down to them or a team that like Ole Miss and Ole Miss got blown out in

[00:15:34] a tough non-conference game.

[00:15:37] You guys know what I'm saying.

[00:15:38] Yeah, a good loss isn't going to hurt them as much as I feel like a good loss should honestly

[00:15:47] be better than a couple 63 nothing wins over Westerk, Kentucky and Austin PA later.

[00:15:55] Yeah, I agree.

[00:15:58] All right, let's move ahead week two previews.

[00:16:01] So we have a bunch of games that we can get into here.

[00:16:03] Let's start first with Marshall at Virginia Tech.

[00:16:06] I know Jordan you're very high on Virginia Tech in our ACC previews.

[00:16:11] Mitch to your your thoughts here in this game, but Virginia Tech is favorite by 20

[00:16:14] in this game against Marshall.

[00:16:16] Obviously, last week they had a stunning loss over time against Vanderbilt,

[00:16:22] but I'm sure they're ready to get back.

[00:16:24] This is it at Virginia Tech and I think we really had high expectations for Virginia coming in.

[00:16:29] They have they return all 11 starters in the offensive side, but I think last week

[00:16:33] their rushing attack really let them down.

[00:16:35] They just average 2.5 yards a carry against Vanderbilt.

[00:16:39] But Cameron Jones, which I know you were high on Jordan,

[00:16:41] threw the ball pretty well.

[00:16:43] He had over 300 yards and almost 10 yards per attempt.

[00:16:46] The offense, you know, they scored a lot against them in the by Furman for the

[00:16:49] year against Vanderbilt.

[00:16:51] They were able to get the victory.

[00:16:53] Talking about Marshall, they lost both of their starting cornerbacks from last season,

[00:16:56] which were both all-sun-built selections and drafted.

[00:17:01] So you got to think that the defense may be a little susceptible for them.

[00:17:05] They only return three starters in the front seven.

[00:17:07] So you got to think that Virginia Tech can get the running game going and get

[00:17:11] stat. It'll be that's where they get their success for this game.

[00:17:13] But I'll give up to you guys.

[00:17:15] What do you think is going to happen here at Marshall at Virginia Tech?

[00:17:17] We'll start with you, Jordan and Virginia Tech team for this year.

[00:17:20] I definitely think Virginia Tech is going to win this game.

[00:17:23] They already were down.

[00:17:25] They had the diversity.

[00:17:26] They had to come back adversity in this Virginia or Vanderbilt game.

[00:17:31] They were down 17 to 3 at halftime and they came back to take the lead

[00:17:37] and then go into overtime tied 27-27.

[00:17:40] I think Vanderbilt is a scrappy team that if you're down the stretch close with them,

[00:17:48] you should be praying because they seem like a team that could win that game no matter what.

[00:17:54] They play hard and I think Virginia Tech, it showed a lot that they came back

[00:17:58] being down by two touchdowns.

[00:18:01] And I think like you said, getting that run game going and that defense to pick it up a

[00:18:05] little bit.

[00:18:05] But I just think that Virginia Tech is just a better team than Marshall

[00:18:09] and they're gonna easily cover that minus that 20 point spread.

[00:18:14] All right, Jess, what are you going at with this game?

[00:18:18] Yeah, I agree with Jordan.

[00:18:19] I think Virginia Tech is gonna bounce back this week.

[00:18:22] They probably could have should have won the Vanderbilt game.

[00:18:28] They were sleepwalking.

[00:18:30] We're still able to overcome that in the second half.

[00:18:33] And sadly for them they lost in overtime.

[00:18:37] I think this is going to be their bounce back game.

[00:18:39] I think they'll win handedly.

[00:18:42] All right, I tend to agree with Virginia Tech.

[00:18:45] I feel like maybe just Marshall, maybe be a little closer and I might take the points here.

[00:18:49] But now I think Virginia Tech cover and win this game pretty easy.

[00:18:52] I think they'll be able to run the ball on Marshall's defense here because they lost so much.

[00:18:56] And I just see this one being a nice easy one for Virginia Tech to get their season going here in week two.

[00:19:03] All right, we talked a little bit about this one earlier, but Texas and Michigan

[00:19:06] game of the week, college game day will be there.

[00:19:09] Texas is favored by six and a half points.

[00:19:11] Obviously, I think we talked in the last podcast.

[00:19:14] Texas is pretty much perfect against Colorado State on Saturday.

[00:19:17] Obviously it's going to face a much more significant defense on Saturday.

[00:19:22] Obviously Quinn Ewers at his thing and I think he was able to throw the ball around.

[00:19:27] I think what I saw a little bit concerned though is he still, to me, he is good against the

[00:19:34] bad or average opponent.

[00:19:36] What will you do against a really tough little defense?

[00:19:38] To me, he seemed like last year just looking at it.

[00:19:41] He was a very average passer and like the non-play action attempts last season.

[00:19:45] And I just feel like he's going to have to do something against his defense here

[00:19:49] to score a lot like they did last week.

[00:19:51] And I'm a little concerned that they obviously lost a couple of running backs before the season.

[00:19:55] Will those running backs get wore down?

[00:19:57] Will they have enough firepower here to wear down Michigan?

[00:20:00] I obviously was high on Michigan before last week.

[00:20:04] Then this past week I picked Texas to win.

[00:20:06] I looked at the tape again, I'll get it, friends.

[00:20:09] I'll say and I felt like they were really vanilla.

[00:20:11] Almost like you think they were a little vanilla on purpose to get ready for this Texas game.

[00:20:16] I don't know.

[00:20:17] I'm not saying they did that because they could have been vanilla because they just

[00:20:20] weren't they didn't work firing on cylinders.

[00:20:21] But I have a feeling Michigan's going to have some things in the up their sleeve

[00:20:25] that they did not show last week.

[00:20:27] And this could be a better game than some people are saying.

[00:20:29] So just start you.

[00:20:31] Do you think there's a you think this will be a close game or do you have Texas

[00:20:33] is blowing them out?

[00:20:35] I think this is going to be a close game.

[00:20:37] I think Texas is going to win, but Michigan has the talent,

[00:20:41] especially on the defensive side of the ball with the likes of Mason Graham,

[00:20:45] Will Johnson and Kenneth Grant.

[00:20:47] That's you got Graham and Grant that are going to be really pushing things on the

[00:20:51] when the trenches there and Will Johnson is one of if not the best corners in college football.

[00:20:58] It's between from my opinion it's between him, Morrison, not Morrison.

[00:21:03] Wait, is it Benjamin Morrison?

[00:21:06] Yeah, Benjamin Morrison, the best and Travis Hunter.

[00:21:09] But I think for a lot of people just from physical standpoint,

[00:21:14] Johnson is like 62 200 or something like that.

[00:21:17] He's got the length.

[00:21:18] He's got the size, speed.

[00:21:20] He's got everything.

[00:21:22] We're not going to get into that number two.

[00:21:24] Yep.

[00:21:24] Number two right.

[00:21:25] We're back.

[00:21:25] I agree defensive personnel to match up with Texas.

[00:21:30] Now, Texas is they've got some they got some dogs in the trenches too,

[00:21:37] starting with a guy who I think a lot of people view as possibly the best tackle

[00:21:43] in college football and Kelvin Banks.

[00:21:46] So both teams have plenty of NFL level talent.

[00:21:50] Quinn Ewers is going to it's going to come down to Quinn Ewers.

[00:21:54] Wow.

[00:21:55] Big surprise it comes down to the quarterback.

[00:21:58] But I think running back despite the loss of CJ Baxter is going to be an easier thing for teams

[00:22:07] to replace in today's day and age with how football is played.

[00:22:12] And Texas, it's not like the guys behind Baxter were scrubs or anything.

[00:22:18] There's still three, four, five star guys between all that.

[00:22:22] I think that with the weapons, Texas just has

[00:22:26] and Ewers being in my opinion far and away the better quarterback in this matchup.

[00:22:31] The trenches are going to even themselves out.

[00:22:34] And Ewers is going to have one or two plays over the course of this game

[00:22:38] that just turn the tide.

[00:22:41] And I think that's going to be what puts Texas over the top by about 10.

[00:22:45] Not much, but I think they'll win this game.

[00:22:48] They'll be up 28, 21 looking to put this game away.

[00:22:53] They'll drive down into field of the range, kick that field goal and

[00:22:57] Michigan will have three minutes left and they won't be able to get down the field.

[00:23:00] Something like that where it's going to be closer than I think the score will indicate.

[00:23:04] All right, Jordan.

[00:23:06] I got Texas on this one.

[00:23:07] I think the school, like Jess said, the score is going to be closer.

[00:23:10] I just don't know if I see enough out of that Michigan offense.

[00:23:16] Warren 15 for 25 last week, 118 yards through the arrow.

[00:23:21] He'd do one touchdown and one interception, but 87 of those yards

[00:23:27] were to their tight end.

[00:23:30] Loveland.

[00:23:31] So if they can stop him, I feel and I didn't see enough from Michigan's run game last week

[00:23:37] to really know that their run game is back.

[00:23:40] Their run base is the same.

[00:23:41] I think it's going to be a lot closer, but I definitely feel like down the stretch,

[00:23:47] Texas is offense is going to figure it out and put up more points than we would.

[00:23:52] You think I think it's going to be later in the game.

[00:23:54] I just think Texas is offense with Quinn Ewers.

[00:23:58] Everyone that got the star power.

[00:24:00] I just think Michigan doesn't have that star power on offense.

[00:24:03] So I'm going to get Texas.

[00:24:05] I think Texas definitely covers that six and a half, seven and a half spread.

[00:24:10] Tony is probably going to say Michigan.

[00:24:13] I am and I thought about it since I picked Texas to win earlier this week watching the film.

[00:24:19] I feel like Michigan was really good against the run against friends of state.

[00:24:24] They held with non-russian yards in total.

[00:24:25] I'm not saying Prince of the State is a world beat or anything,

[00:24:28] but I feel like their defense is going to really show up against Texas.

[00:24:32] Shut down the running team that they do have and really play man against the rest of the

[00:24:38] offense that gets Texas.

[00:24:40] And I think that's going to try to put Quinn Ewers in some difficult situations,

[00:24:43] which I faker for a couple of picks, make this a closer game.

[00:24:46] And it should be Michigan pulls it off at the big house, by the way.

[00:24:50] This is at Michigan.

[00:24:51] I just think it's going to find a way to win this game.

[00:24:55] It would be different if it wasn't at noon.

[00:24:57] But we're talking about noon on this big 10 Fox kickoff baby.

[00:25:02] It would be at night.

[00:25:03] It would be different.

[00:25:04] Also, the nine yards did come off of three sacks for negative 30 yards.

[00:25:12] Hey, listen, no sacks are coming this week too, so don't let that fool you.

[00:25:15] Against Kelvin Banks?

[00:25:18] Yes.

[00:25:19] That defensive, we talked about it in the pre-season,

[00:25:22] the defensive line of Michigan is the same defensive line that was last year that won

[00:25:26] the title.

[00:25:26] Put some respect to their name.

[00:25:27] They did win a national title last year.

[00:25:29] All right, I'll put respect on myself.

[00:25:32] You do that.

[00:25:33] And then I'm going to play this clip when I actually get one upset right,

[00:25:36] at least I'm going on the line here.

[00:25:38] He's going to pick an upset every week, everybody.

[00:25:41] And it's going to be...

[00:25:42] I'm not.

[00:25:42] I just noticed it's going to happen.

[00:25:43] I know it's going to happen.

[00:25:44] You said that again with West Virginia as well.

[00:25:46] That should happen.

[00:25:47] They let me down.

[00:25:49] They're off my list, Christmas card list.

[00:25:50] All right, what's with people on here?

[00:25:52] The Arkansas, Oklahoma State.

[00:25:54] So obviously, Oklahoma State is coming off a 44-20 win over South Dakota State last week.

[00:25:58] They have Ollie Gordon, a veteran quarterback,

[00:26:01] Alec Bowman who obviously leading the way.

[00:26:03] Alec Bowman, good game last week.

[00:26:04] 267 yards free touchdowns.

[00:26:06] Ollie Gordon continued his game last week with an ever-good rushing attack there.

[00:26:11] Arkansas was coming to build up their momentum for last week's 70-0 victory over

[00:26:15] Arkansas Pine Bluff where I really liked what I saw on Boise State transfer quarterback

[00:26:19] Taylor Green.

[00:26:21] He had 229 passing yards, four touchdowns.

[00:26:24] Had some running rushing yards in there as well.

[00:26:26] I really like his game, elite stat game.

[00:26:28] It gets Arkansas Pine Bluff.

[00:26:30] So I don't know if he's able to translate that over to Oklahoma State,

[00:26:32] but it would be interesting to see if he is.

[00:26:34] One thing I did find interesting with his offense is they have obviously Bobby Petrino

[00:26:38] as the new offensive coordinator.

[00:26:40] Obviously, the famous coach from Arkansas before he had all his drama

[00:26:43] with dating employee there and all that.

[00:26:45] But he is a good offensive mind and I think he might find some different ways

[00:26:49] to use Taylor Green.

[00:26:50] So this is an interesting matchup.

[00:26:51] I'm interested to get you guys a pick on this one.

[00:26:53] So start, you Jess.

[00:26:54] Who do you got winning this one?

[00:26:55] Oklahoma State and Arkansas.

[00:26:58] I think I'm going with Oklahoma State.

[00:27:01] Again, Arkansas looked great in week one, but who were they playing?

[00:27:07] They were playing no one essentially.

[00:27:10] So I didn't learn anything about Arkansas.

[00:27:13] I didn't, I wasn't blown away by anything Arkansas did.

[00:27:17] I think maybe Arkansas could be a better team this year than initially expected,

[00:27:22] but I don't see them as being some top contender type.

[00:27:27] If I had to pick an upset this week, I think I would lean Arkansas

[00:27:31] because Oklahoma State still struggled with the quarterback position.

[00:27:36] They did not impress me much at all in their week one performance.

[00:27:45] But I think I'm still going to give that.

[00:27:47] I think I'm still going to give Oklahoma State the edge.

[00:27:50] I think they are the more talented team.

[00:27:53] It's at Oklahoma State.

[00:27:56] I just think a couple of things are going to bounce their way,

[00:27:59] but I think what's the spread out here?

[00:28:02] Eight and a half.

[00:28:03] I wouldn't be shocked if Arkansas covered.

[00:28:07] All right, Jordan, who you got man?

[00:28:08] I'm picking this upset.

[00:28:10] Give me Arkansas.

[00:28:12] I could never get behind Oklahoma State

[00:28:14] because I can never under trust their quarterback.

[00:28:17] And I am at that point again where I can't trust their quarterback.

[00:28:22] Honestly, their defense didn't look that great.

[00:28:24] Yeah, they played South Dakota State who has a good team all together.

[00:28:30] But Bowman didn't.

[00:28:31] He played all right this game, but they did play a smaller team.

[00:28:36] It's like Arkansas.

[00:28:38] Arkansas played a smaller team.

[00:28:40] The biggest thing I feel like is going to be the test for Arkansas.

[00:28:45] And I think the biggest thing that's going to carry Oklahoma State is Gordon.

[00:28:50] 126 yards, three touchdowns.

[00:28:54] He put the team on his back and I think he's going to continue to put the team on the back.

[00:28:59] So it's going to be super close.

[00:29:01] I think it's going to be a field goal or touchdown,

[00:29:03] but I'm going to pick Arkansas.

[00:29:04] I just think they might have the more firepower explosive offense at Oklahoma State.

[00:29:10] I don't think Oklahoma State has ever had that explosive offense in the last couple of years.

[00:29:14] So I got Arkansas.

[00:29:17] Give me Arkansas.

[00:29:18] I think that SEC defense is going to slow down at Oklahoma State.

[00:29:24] Rushing attack a bit, not saying Oligo is not going to get his.

[00:29:27] He'll get his, but I really like Taylor Green.

[00:29:29] I like what Bobby Petrina was able to do with him.

[00:29:31] That just seems like a really match made in heaven there with the coordinator and the quarterback.

[00:29:37] So I think they'll score enough here and they'll be able to play enough solid defense.

[00:29:40] I actually think, you know, Sam Pippman this year is coaching for his life

[00:29:44] because he'll be fired if he does not have a good season.

[00:29:47] I kind of think of this as West Virginia was in last year.

[00:29:49] Everybody thought they were going to have a terrible season.

[00:29:51] They ended up nine and four.

[00:29:52] I can see something very similar happen here with Arkansas.

[00:29:54] So I think this is the way to do that is win this game.

[00:29:57] So give me Arkansas to win this game.

[00:30:01] All right.

[00:30:02] Next up we have Kansas State at Tulane.

[00:30:06] So Tulane's first year head coach, John Somerle, named Redshirt freshman Darian

[00:30:10] Masa as the starter over veteran K Horton and Oregon transfer, Ty Thomas is a little bit of

[00:30:15] surprise move there.

[00:30:16] And Masa, I don't know.

[00:30:18] I'm probably butchering a man.

[00:30:19] I'm really sorry.

[00:30:21] Mensah maybe?

[00:30:22] I don't know.

[00:30:22] And then for Impresson week one went over Southeast Louisiana.

[00:30:26] Obviously has much tougher test here against Kansas State.

[00:30:29] Obviously last week Kansas State crushed UT Martin 41-6 and their opener.

[00:30:33] Every Johnson everybody was hyping him up.

[00:30:36] I thought he could have done more.

[00:30:37] He reminded me a lot of Raleigh Leonard with his ability, but he was playing a lot worse team.

[00:30:42] So he went 14-21 for 153 yards to touchdowns interception.

[00:30:46] 37 yards rushing on three carries.

[00:30:48] I just wasn't impressed with the stat line.

[00:30:50] I know it's maybe they're holding it back for a federal bigger opponent.

[00:30:54] But I don't know.

[00:30:55] I just I expected more from him because he ran off Will Howard apparently.

[00:30:58] And now I just expected more of a bigger stat line here.

[00:31:01] Obviously that their star there is the running back DJ Givens who

[00:31:05] rushed for 124 yards in week one.

[00:31:08] And so they hope that he will continue to do that as he did last year.

[00:31:11] So who do you guys have winning this one?

[00:31:13] Kansas State or Tulane?

[00:31:14] We'll start with you Jordan.

[00:31:16] All right, I'm just I'm gonna do it.

[00:31:18] Give me the upset.

[00:31:20] Give me that upset.

[00:31:21] I think Tulane has the better quarterback.

[00:31:24] Now you're jumping off a hill.

[00:31:25] I can't go up that hill with you.

[00:31:25] You've gone up many hills that you've died.

[00:31:28] Mine are very small hills.

[00:31:30] Oh, they have been.

[00:31:32] I'm putting one out there.

[00:31:34] All right, I go.

[00:31:35] I think this is going to be a lot closer than expected.

[00:31:39] I just think the quarterback is going to be where it is.

[00:31:42] And I think Johnson is not that quarterback this year.

[00:31:46] Not ready to be that quarterback this year.

[00:31:48] I think they have more explosiveness passing for Tulane.

[00:31:54] They put up those numbers.

[00:31:56] I just think Tulane not a lot to say on this man.

[00:31:59] Just give me Tulane.

[00:32:00] All right.

[00:32:01] Don't shake your head at me Tony because you're always wrong

[00:32:03] with these upsets.

[00:32:04] And I think this is a good one.

[00:32:06] Usually right.

[00:32:06] I'm like about 50%.

[00:32:08] Now you're like one for 60.

[00:32:12] Because I go on a limb.

[00:32:13] I try.

[00:32:14] I'm trying right here.

[00:32:15] Don't look at me.

[00:32:15] Let me see.

[00:32:16] They're favorite but 20.

[00:32:17] Oh, let's go ahead and take the easy.

[00:32:18] Look at me.

[00:32:19] I'm picking Tulane on this one, man.

[00:32:21] All right.

[00:32:21] I'm happy to see it.

[00:32:22] That's a terrible pick, but I'm glad you were able to go on a limb.

[00:32:24] You're probably going to pick Baylor.

[00:32:25] Relax.

[00:32:26] All right.

[00:32:27] Jess, who you got?

[00:32:30] I'm taking Tulane.

[00:32:31] Oh my Lord.

[00:32:32] I can't wait.

[00:32:33] At least I won't be on a limb on this one.

[00:32:35] So you guys will be out there and having apologize on Twitter about this.

[00:32:39] I think the quarterback matchup, I think that it's at Tulane is going to play in their favor, I think.

[00:32:44] This isn't even really that big of an upset pick.

[00:32:49] I mean it's plus 10.

[00:32:53] It's a little bit more than Arkansas and Oklahoma State.

[00:32:57] I know I just said if I had a pick one I would have taken Arkansas over Oklahoma State.

[00:33:02] But I think the fact that I thought this game was reversed, I thought it was at Kansas State.

[00:33:06] If it is at Tulane and I think that's going to play in the green waves favor,

[00:33:14] the quarterback matchup I like.

[00:33:17] Again, this is one of those where if you were struggling against UT Martin through the air,

[00:33:23] I think Tulane just got a lot better of a defense.

[00:33:26] I think Tulane wins this game by three.

[00:33:30] Kansas State by 15, 20, 30 points, whatever.

[00:33:33] They're just much better team and they'll be much more focused on this game than they were

[00:33:37] week one whenever I'm just getting started.

[00:33:39] I don't see how you guys compete that.

[00:33:40] Kansas State is going to probably be one of the teams playing for the playoffs.

[00:33:43] So I don't see how you guys go that far.

[00:33:45] But hey everybody has their own pick.

[00:33:47] Next up, Baylor at Utah.

[00:33:50] Baylor is going off a huge win over Tarleton State whoever that is.

[00:33:55] I don't know what state that is Jess.

[00:33:56] So don't ask me about that one.

[00:33:58] When they're a season over and the next couple weeks they take on Air Force Colorado.

[00:34:01] So they have some opportunities here to do some good things.

[00:34:06] The Quad Fin is the new quarterback there.

[00:34:08] He's looking pretty decent so far to touchdowns to interception in 192 yards.

[00:34:12] So he has some hits or misses, but overall looked pretty good in the first week.

[00:34:16] Utah is coming off a shutout win over Southern Utah.

[00:34:20] And they're looking to start two and over a ninth time in the last 12 years.

[00:34:24] Camarising my man is coming back, completing 66% of his passes for 254 yards.

[00:34:29] Five touchdowns last week.

[00:34:30] But then the rest of the team is kind of follow suit.

[00:34:33] The ground game is averaging 220 yards a game.

[00:34:35] That's one game so they had 220 yards last week.

[00:34:39] And then so I like the running backs.

[00:34:40] I like the team.

[00:34:41] I like the defense before you guys even pick.

[00:34:43] I'm not picking Baylor for sure.

[00:34:44] This is my lock of the week.

[00:34:46] Utah destroys Baylor.

[00:34:48] So go ahead guys.

[00:34:49] Who do you?

[00:34:49] Oh I got Utah.

[00:34:51] Camarising is going to put up the numbers.

[00:34:52] He's back baby.

[00:34:54] Utah.

[00:34:55] Yeah he's my husband.

[00:34:56] Dark horse so go ahead just.

[00:34:57] First of all Tony, everybody knows Tarleton is in Texas.

[00:35:01] Don't come at me like that.

[00:35:02] You should have known Fairman's a little closer to where you would have schooled.

[00:35:05] I'm the same.

[00:35:05] I don't want to hear it.

[00:35:07] It's in Texas.

[00:35:08] It is located at 1333 West Washington Street.

[00:35:13] He looked it up.

[00:35:14] This is 76401.

[00:35:16] Of course obviously.

[00:35:17] That's his common knowledge.

[00:35:18] Common knowledge.

[00:35:19] Everyone watching the video, everyone notice Jeff just look super hard into this computer.

[00:35:26] He did not have a photographic memory.

[00:35:29] I did in fact have to Google that one.

[00:35:34] I'd never even heard of Tarleton State.

[00:35:37] I just don't try anymore.

[00:35:38] That doesn't change the fact that yeah Utah's going to win this one.

[00:35:42] Camarising is one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

[00:35:44] They're going to do what they need to do and Utah's going to win this game handedly.

[00:35:48] All right.

[00:35:49] Let's move ahead to Iowa State.

[00:35:51] Iowa always an interesting matchup to start the year with these two teams.

[00:35:56] Iowa has offense now.

[00:35:57] How good is Iowa State?

[00:35:59] A lot of open questions in this one.

[00:36:01] Iowa State, if you remember last year their quarterback Beck was early in his career as a starter

[00:36:09] and he ended up struggling most of the game against Iowa last year

[00:36:13] only throwing for 203 yards in interception.

[00:36:15] Obviously tough place to play early Iowa.

[00:36:17] He also was hurt by four drops.

[00:36:19] So he's hoping to approve that this year but he's obviously since that game he's been picking things up

[00:36:23] and playing a lot better so they have a lot of hope that he's going to take them to the next level

[00:36:28] there and they're coming in after victory last week.

[00:36:32] Kate McAmyra is back for another season and they actually scored 40 points,

[00:36:36] this we talked about and they might have an offense.

[00:36:40] So it's interesting to see if you trust the defense Iowa versus this decent offense

[00:36:44] of Iowa State or do you trust the new Iowa offense to take this game over?

[00:36:49] So Jordan we'll start you got Iowa State.

[00:36:51] I got Iowa, I think their quarterback actually...

[00:36:56] And it's at Iowa.

[00:36:59] It's not an easy place to play in general.

[00:37:03] You don't just go to Iowa and win.

[00:37:04] No yeah and their defense looks good.

[00:37:07] Their Iowa's defense is always good but they have something they haven't had in a while.

[00:37:14] And it's an offense.

[00:37:16] They can throw the ball.

[00:37:18] Yep.

[00:37:24] The biggest thing though is I think it's going to be a lot closer but I think that

[00:37:28] defense of Iowa is going to be able to contain that Iowa offense, Iowa State offense.

[00:37:34] And the quarterbacks Kate and Rico...

[00:37:38] Yeah Rico.

[00:37:40] They were really similar besides Kate having one more touchdown.

[00:37:46] But also Iowa's head coach Kurt Ferenc is back after one game.

[00:37:52] Oh yeah.

[00:37:53] I think that just going to make Iowa want it more and I think that defense...

[00:37:58] I don't think Iowa State is going to be able to score like they did last week on that big 10 Iowa defense.

[00:38:07] So Iowa.

[00:38:07] All right Jess you agree?

[00:38:10] Yeah Iowa State is 2-8 in their last 10 matchups against Iowa and that was when Iowa didn't have an offense.

[00:38:18] But even then Iowa was able to put up 20, 27, 18.

[00:38:25] They would win games... some games they'd win 13-3.

[00:38:28] There was one game that went like 44-41 or 42-3.

[00:38:33] So Iowa is able to complement...

[00:38:36] We know Iowa's going to have a good defense and if they're able to complement that with a good offense

[00:38:41] which I think another good test here just on a I perceive to be a lesser team let's see if this

[00:38:47] offense can replicate things maybe not... it's not going to be as great as it looked last week but

[00:38:54] if they have a pulse on offense to complement how good I think their defense can be

[00:38:59] then this is going to be a good season for Iowa and I think that

[00:39:03] we'll start really getting a feel for them as we do with most teams and we do here and I think

[00:39:08] we're going to see that.

[00:39:10] I think Iowa can be quite good this year and I think they're going to beat Iowa State

[00:39:14] probably by 10 to 17 somewhere in that range.

[00:39:18] All right I agree I think I was playing at home I think the offense will help with it

[00:39:23] on top of the already good defense so I give me Iowa 14, then 21 points in this one as well.

[00:39:29] All right next up we have I think a sneaky good contest Kansas at Illinois

[00:39:33] it could be to match up the week I think they're very similar matched teams coming in this one

[00:39:39] it looks like Kansas is favored by six and a half last week Kansas J-Hawks beat Linnidwood

[00:39:45] tough matchup end up winning that one with Jaylen Daniels completing 60 of his passes

[00:39:51] for 148 yards touchdown interception their ground game had 331 yards they only allowed

[00:39:58] three points so only a 220 yards so decent performance again against Linnidwood so what does

[00:40:04] that tell you but I know last year that Jaylen Daniels always looked really good when he had a chance to

[00:40:09] play and was it injured so that's got to give you hope as a Kansas J-Hawk as far as Illinois

[00:40:14] they shut out eastern Illinois they had Luke Altmire the quarterback had completed almost 80

[00:40:20] percent of his passes for 213 yards four touchdowns like I had over 244 yards rushing

[00:40:25] so if again very similar matched teams here both play pretty good defense both run the ball very well

[00:40:31] both quarterbacks are probably not going to be as accurate as you would like or throwing three to

[00:40:36] 400 yards but they'll get they'll do the job so with that being said though said you Jess who

[00:40:41] do you think's going to win this one Kansas or Illinois I think it'll be Kansas I like Jaylen

[00:40:47] Daniels I think he's got a lot of promise I think he's going to be an interesting prospect

[00:40:52] draft time in the next year or two whenever he's allowed to declare I think his main issue has

[00:40:59] been health and if he can stay healthy I think Kansas can be a pretty good team I know it's at

[00:41:05] Illinois but I just think Kansas is the better team overall I don't really have much to say there's

[00:41:12] no super in-depth reasoning here for it Kansas I just think is the better team they're going to

[00:41:18] go they're going to do their bit they're going to do what they need to do they're going to

[00:41:21] walk away with a win just like they did against Lindenwood which is located in where was it

[00:41:27] I guess Missouri yeah makes sense same Charles Missouri is outside of St. Louis just so you guys

[00:41:36] know oh there you go now you know folks just turning into a GI and and no way it's half the

[00:41:41] battle folks yep thank you GI Joe you you taught us well all right next up we have one of the

[00:41:48] better matchups of the week Tennessee at North Carolina State we talked a little bit about the

[00:41:52] last podcast so we won't spend as much time on this one but Tennessee is favored by four and a half

[00:41:56] points which is surprising me because it's at North Carolina State but obviously both teams

[00:42:01] did well last week Tennessee did really well North Carolina State took a half to get going but

[00:42:05] in winning Tennessee blew out UT Chattanooga while it took almost three and a half quarters

[00:42:11] for North Carolina State to put away Western Carolina again we talked a little bit about

[00:42:15] Grayson McCall last week he was a great in opener but he started coming around by the end

[00:42:19] and he's really just getting used to this receiving room his offense and so you got to

[00:42:23] think he would be better in this game we haven't seen the quarterback of Tennessee have played

[00:42:27] gets a competitive foe yet so this would be interesting to see like how he does here

[00:42:31] obviously it's in this matchup it's the first big game they're playing they probably both

[00:42:35] put a little bit ill last week so I'm interested to see what they do it's at North Carolina

[00:42:38] State which is a tougher place to play you never know what the weather is going to be like

[00:42:42] this time of year so with that being said Jordan who do you got Tennessee or North Carolina State

[00:42:47] this is probably the toughest one to pick out of like the whole week and I just can't I don't know

[00:42:55] if I can pick an upset on this one all right give me it I'm gonna pick NC State at home

[00:43:00] Grayson McCall's gonna pull it out pick it up and he's gonna have a better game I think

[00:43:05] the teams are super close in everything but I just think with Nico's first big game being at

[00:43:12] NC State and like you said Tony the weather you don't know what it's going to be like

[00:43:17] with with Jordan Waters coming from yeah he already knows what the weather is going to be like

[00:43:22] in that area he's going to be able to run and put up the numbers like you did last week with

[00:43:28] 123 yards I just think NC State is going to pick it up from last week their offense is

[00:43:34] going to pick it up and that defense is going to be able to control a little bit more of the game

[00:43:38] and Nico is just good he's too he's young if it was that if it was next year talking about this

[00:43:44] game I think I would be on Tennessee side but with him being fresh starting not really

[00:43:53] getting in this atmosphere I got NC State. Jess what do you got? I got Tennessee

[00:44:00] I think that this is going to be a very interesting game to see from Nico

[00:44:07] Lama Leica. Don't even try. That's why we just say Nico here. I don't think I succeeded

[00:44:13] but Nico I think he's one of the most interesting quarterbacks in the country

[00:44:20] not just because of his name not just because of his name but he was this really highly touted

[00:44:26] guy and I think if he hits the way that I think a lot of people expect him to

[00:44:33] we're going to be looking more at 2022 Tennessee than 2023 Tennessee

[00:44:39] and that's going to be very interesting with how the shape's out because Tennessee still has

[00:44:45] who I think might be the best player regardless of position in the country right now or at the

[00:44:53] very least for the upcoming draft and James Pierce Jr and he's so they could have potentially two

[00:45:00] game changers one on each side of the ball and I think that's going to be too much for NC State

[00:45:07] here. I think I have confidence in Nico I've heard a lot of good things a lot of scouts

[00:45:13] talked him up he's viewed very highly and again it was just against Chattanooga but being

[00:45:20] that's really all we've got other than the orange bowl where a lot of players on both sides

[00:45:24] that's all the tape we've got on him and I like what I've seen so far I'm going to trust that I'm

[00:45:29] going to trust Tennessee I think Tennessee goes into NC State and gets the win. All right good

[00:45:33] call I am picking NC State I really like the exception that their receiver waters are

[00:45:39] running back as you mentioned Jordan and then I liked your secondary receiver Noah Rogers

[00:45:43] he was really highly recruited out of high school he went to Ohio State for a year

[00:45:48] transferred in the off season to North Carolina State and I think this is a he has a lot of potential

[00:45:52] to break out in this game because they're going to obviously I think exception is the the the

[00:45:58] talented one is I think Tennessee's a very big can to shut him down which will open it up for

[00:46:02] Noah Rogers to potentially have a breakout game here with him and Grayson McCall be able to

[00:46:06] open his offense up a little bit with North Carolina State Steve that's always being pretty

[00:46:10] good I feel like this game will be a little bit of a slug fast I think they'll end up winning

[00:46:14] because it's at home give me a little bit of state all right next up we have Boise State Oregon

[00:46:20] I'll say Boise State last week took on the Georgia Southern Eagles in that matchup they won 56 to 45

[00:46:26] so great offensive showing not as great defensive showing opposite their quarterback did pretty well

[00:46:31] 280 yards and touchdown we talked about at St. Gentie last time but he had a career day at

[00:46:35] 260 70 yards with six scores we talked about Oregon last this past podcast as well where

[00:46:41] played Idaho and won 24 to 14 this was sloppy Dylan Gabriel had good numbers again those popcorn

[00:46:47] muscles empty calorie showing up there as I mentioned earlier so again interesting matchup but this is

[00:46:53] at Oregon I think Oregon is favored by 19 and a half if you give me the points I'll take them

[00:46:57] but I think Boise State can score a lot I just don't think they'll have the defense here to

[00:47:01] score so I would pick Oregon ultimately Jordan who do you got in this one Oregon or Boise State

[00:47:05] I got Oregon and it's pretty easy to pick this one like you said it was at Boise State

[00:47:10] I would pick Boise State but that game was a like the Oregon game was a lot

[00:47:18] closer in score than stats they only allowed 49 rushing yards for Idaho yeah it's Idaho but still

[00:47:25] I think Oregon's gonna be able to stop Boise State's run game at least a little bit and I

[00:47:36] Boise State doesn't have that defense I think Oregon has a better defense and is going to be able

[00:47:41] to stop them more often than Boise State is going to be able to stop Oregon so give me Oregon I think

[00:47:49] Dylan Gabriel is gonna put them huge numbers and pull away more in high speed

[00:47:55] all right Jess you agree yeah I agree I think Oregon's gonna run away with this one I think

[00:48:04] they had some issues week one got a iron things out figure things out first real competition it was

[00:48:12] not a good look you know we blame we've lambasted teams were playing not good competition here and

[00:48:21] just pulling them out of the water but Oregon didn't even do that but at the end of the day

[00:48:25] they got the win they're moving on they are one of the most talented teams in the country

[00:48:31] I like the quarterback situation I think they're gonna figure things out

[00:48:35] I think they win this one comfortably all right good picture and our last one Colorado and Nebraska

[00:48:43] should be interesting one Nebraska is favored this one set by seven and a half points so last week

[00:48:48] obviously Colorado had a tough game against Norfolk Dakota State which hey Norfolk Dakota

[00:48:52] State always plays well against whoever they play against so I don't think there's no shame in

[00:48:56] that but I don't know if we saw enough improvement from Colorado from last year to this year to say

[00:49:00] okay they're gonna they're gonna be able to go on a little bit of a run this here but their offense

[00:49:05] still looks good with Sheriff Sanders going for 445 yards and four touchdowns defense still to me

[00:49:11] looks pretty shaky Nebraska obviously started true freshman Dylan Riola we talked about him

[00:49:16] quite a bit on the podcast when he was a high school recruit as he bounced from Ohio State to

[00:49:20] Georgia to Nebraska finally he was oppressed at his first college start collegiate start he did

[00:49:26] 1927 for 238 yards two scores against a decent UTEP team and they won 40 to seven in week one

[00:49:33] so this one would be a little different a little more pressure a little more eyes on the game for

[00:49:37] new quarterback for Nebraska but a much better defense for Nebraska versus a much higher level

[00:49:43] offense for Colorado and not as good of a again this one is that Nebraska the house would

[00:49:47] probably be packed because people are excited to see the true freshman play yep night game it's

[00:49:53] going to be tough play to play so Jess who do you got in this one I'm going with Nebraska

[00:50:00] I think that Colorado is still essentially a three-man show with Shador Travis Hunter and

[00:50:08] Horn on offense and then obviously Hunter plays both ways but I think Nebraska as a team

[00:50:17] they were a lot better than I think their record indicated last year I mentioned this in the preview

[00:50:23] pod but they had I think it was like six games that they lost or something that were all by

[00:50:31] single score games some of which were even just three point games and in those losses

[00:50:36] they committed 16 turnovers 14 of which were all by the quarterback Riola looked good

[00:50:44] I think Colorado's defense isn't going to really put up much resistance so I think

[00:50:49] real is gonna be able to once again not do as he pleases he's gonna be more comfortable than

[00:50:56] Colorado would like him to be and I think that's gonna allow Nebraska to operate and

[00:51:01] go do what they need to do I don't know about seven and a half I think the teams I think

[00:51:08] the three best players still might be on Colorado but I think Nebraska is gonna win by

[00:51:18] let's say five okay four to one by you weird number football you get what I'm getting at

[00:51:25] I have Nebraska I think offensively they're a little more diverse Colorado is a one trick pony

[00:51:37] let's throw the ball 500 times and I don't know what it is but

[00:51:41] Shador Shanders just puts up numbers because they can't run the ball so they're gonna pass the ball

[00:51:46] every play and I think Nebraska as long as the Nebraska's defense can hold their two receivers

[00:51:54] and just get to the quarterback I think this game is going to be a bad game for Nebraska or

[00:52:00] Colorado and I just don't think Colorado's defense as long as you don't throw it towards

[00:52:05] Travis Hunter you're fine and so I think they cover the spread especially in Nebraska night game

[00:52:12] rival game it's going to be it's going to be rough for Colorado offensively and defensively

[00:52:20] because they did not change anything there honestly I think they should have lost last weekend but

[00:52:24] that's just me so give me Nebraska covering the spread I think they win by 10 to 14 points

[00:52:30] all right I tend to agree I think the defense in Nebraska is going to be a key

[00:52:34] while we'll think Colorado will be able to score some points there's going to be some drives that

[00:52:37] Nebraska's able to stop where I don't know if that Colorado defense is going to be able to slow

[00:52:42] down some of the Nebraska's play so I would do think it'll be a little bit of a closer game but

[00:52:46] the Nebraska at night with the hype around Dylan Reola I'm interested to see him see if they

[00:52:52] can get the victory either one either team that wins this is going to be two and I'll look at

[00:52:56] my decent start to their season so it's going to be both have a lot to play for in this one so

[00:53:00] it's just to see who wins all right guys that wraps up our second podcast of this week as always
