[00:00:31] Welcome back to the latest episode of In The Flat Podcast. I'm your host as always Tony Kill.

[00:00:36] Join this week as always Jess and Jordan. Obviously we have some actual games to react to

[00:00:41] instead of just talking about previewing things we have no idea as you heard all weekend,

[00:00:46] all week about how the best defensive line in the country was Florida states and

[00:00:50] they did not look like the best defensive line in the country. Yes that's where all that talk

[00:00:54] gets you is no results there. What we're here to do is talk about the actual games. We're

[00:01:01] crazy things can happen teams could be worse or better than we think but we'll try to give you

[00:01:06] our best opinion on where we think things will happen for week one. Let's start there if Week

[00:01:11] Zero Look Back. It wasn't a lot of games but there was some surprising results. I think we talked a

[00:01:16] little bit about it on the podcast and we felt Georgia Tech could be a team that is better than

[00:01:21] they've been in the last couple years. They hadn't ended last year on some momentum. They

[00:01:25] played Georgia Tech at the end of last year and they came out and they beat Florida State

[00:01:29] on a late field goal there in Dublin. If you look at the, to me it was the line of scrimmage

[00:01:34] that they wanted. They were able to run the ball I think for 275 yards two touchdowns for Jamal Hayes.

[00:01:40] Their quarterback Haynes King ran for number 54 yards, threw for 146 and they're able to win

[00:01:46] that line of scrimmage battle against Florida State which was supposed to be better in

[00:01:50] that field. For me Florida State they had some early oppressive drives but I think came

[00:01:55] out to me that they couldn't pass the football and once I think Georgia Tech realized that they

[00:01:59] made trying to make DJU throw to beat them and he just couldn't for only 193 yards pass him

[00:02:04] which is again we talked about when we talked about Florida State our only worry about

[00:02:08] Florida State this year was DJU the right answer. Pass around to you guys Jordan what did you

[00:02:12] think of this performance? Anything surprising from Georgia Tech beat in Florida State?

[00:02:16] What just surprised me I thought Florida like you said Florida State was going to be

[00:02:19] the contender top team in the ACC win the ACC but then they just DJU just did not look good

[00:02:28] couldn't throw the ball more than I think a half-time negative 0.1 yard passing like forward

[00:02:36] in the air. Negative 0.1 yards per pass meaning he did not average a pass beyond the line of

[00:02:43] scrimmage. Hey as long as the ball doesn't have to go forward he's good he would have

[00:02:46] been great for the 1930s and 40s I think. Now Florida State just did not expect that to happen

[00:02:53] I think Georgia Tech crazy to me is that they are one good quarterback away from being somewhat

[00:03:00] relevant in a lot of ways. I guess that's my question for you guys with this already having

[00:03:05] a loss you can still make the playoffs obviously with the new expanded playoffs but would you just

[00:03:10] at some point in here next game or two just throw it out to one of the young guys

[00:03:14] and have it more of a developmental type year to try to build one of those guys up and maybe he

[00:03:18] could make a run to the playoffs for you if not be ready for next year or what would you do just.

[00:03:26] Are you asking me about Florida? Oh yeah no they're not they're not doing anything at quarterback

[00:03:31] they're not doing anything at quarterback they've got all this they had all this hype in the

[00:03:34] offseason it was the first week they're gonna run with it but I think they got them in the

[00:03:40] transfer portal this whole team is essentially we talked about this in the ACC projections it's

[00:03:45] so much of this is like new guys they haven't played it all together there's growing pains with that

[00:03:52] you got punched in the mouth in week one you were in an entirely different country I think they

[00:03:58] they keep rolling with it and chances are they're with that loss I I think Florida State is all but

[00:04:07] they would really have to turn things around to make the playoffs because they have no room for

[00:04:12] error all I gotta do is win the conference did you see someone saying that like essentially

[00:04:18] that they should only play their starters in like conference games or some some ones like

[00:04:24] hot take crazy strategy rest your starters you know against these cupcake easy opponents

[00:04:31] in the non-conference games and then just play your starters and the games are really matters

[00:04:36] to just make a run for the for the what you call it the conference championship yeah

[00:04:41] she heard a minute yeah no I think I definitely could see a team that's going for the conference

[00:04:45] championship like Florida say they're back in it by the end of the year they played their day

[00:04:48] in November like those non-conference games late in the year I could see teams resting a bunch

[00:04:53] of their starters because they want to make sure to get healthy and win all their conference

[00:04:57] games to get to the conference championship that's what's gonna matter that's what's gonna get

[00:05:01] them into playoffs almost like the NFL of sorts when a rest player was the end of the season

[00:05:04] it's it's gonna be something similar to that I have a feeling all right other scores and notes for

[00:05:09] week zero Montana State came back from 17 down to meet New Mexico 35-31 I jinxed them I said oh we

[00:05:15] picked New Mexico they're gonna win and they lost my bad guys sorry you always call it Tuesday

[00:05:20] I do I do I get too excited and see it like football guys you don't like oh my god we we did it

[00:05:26] again we called a good one and we always this SMU came back I was surprised this wasn't more of

[00:05:31] a blowout but they came back to beat Nevada 29 and 24 they didn't look as good as I thought they would

[00:05:36] so I'm a little worried about SMU getting into a bigger conference there in ACC I did Hawaii not

[00:05:42] stay up the live stream sorry if you guys were expecting that they did to beat Delaware State

[00:05:45] 35-14 in pretty easy fashion but a little closer than I think Vegas had so I don't think

[00:05:52] they think crazy there any closing thoughts before we move on to our next segment

[00:05:58] no I just feel bad for Delaware State getting they missed their butt they're trying

[00:06:02] they're playing and yeah that's just I feel bad yeah so you're probably gonna get as much time

[00:06:06] to celebrate Hawaii as you would like yeah the only thing I'm really taking away is that I

[00:06:12] my hesitancy with SMU might have been a little validated at least for one week

[00:06:18] and we all yeah every even remotely expected a dog a dog always catches his tail once yeah

[00:06:25] he does let's see if they use the tail to him

[00:06:31] not a good the good pod for me I can't no wins for Jeff no you're at a bottom of

[00:06:36] barrel here we're gonna rest you for a little bit all right next segment we're gonna we're

[00:06:39] gonna go around the horn a little bit here obviously there's a lot of a lot of things that we

[00:06:44] we were predicting to happen this year so we're gonna run a horn give a little hot take

[00:06:47] we'll rethink our maybe something that's a little outside of normal what the normal

[00:06:51] puns are saying and so I'm gonna start with you Jordan what you give us one of your hot takes

[00:06:56] here give us 30 40 seconds of this hot take let us know what do you think is going to happen

[00:07:01] we'll go from there all right let's start off we talked about Florida State

[00:07:06] and everything I definitely think that NC State could win the ACC championship this year

[00:07:11] without Florida State basically I feel like that loss knocked him out

[00:07:15] with Grayson McCall coming they haven't had that quarterback Grayson has Kerry brought

[00:07:20] GCU to eight win multiple eight win seasons he's super accurate with 90 or 69.9

[00:07:27] percent completion he's only throwing 14 interception in his five years so he's

[00:07:31] played in the college football in a long time but not just Grayson coming they've also have

[00:07:37] some decent receivers and Kevin can't can't see no I can't pronounce his name he had 39 receiving

[00:07:46] yards they also have multiple deep threats out there that have can carry this team they also

[00:07:52] bought Jordan Waters from Duke at running back he rushed for 819 yards last year over at Duke

[00:07:58] their offense it's always been that question mark and always been that area of can they get

[00:08:04] over that hump but we always their defense is still going to compete still be that defense

[00:08:09] we've seen last year they were third in third downstops fourth in interceptions with Aiden White

[00:08:15] returning a corner and a transfer from Ohio State in Jihad Carter their secondaries should

[00:08:21] be good but they also have that easier schedule they really only play Clemson this year in

[00:08:25] conference plays NC State in my eyes is going to win their conference the ACC and be in that

[00:08:31] college ball playoffs this year all right good call yeah I think North Carolina State's going to be

[00:08:37] definitely one of the top contenders as well I could see them if things break their way actually

[00:08:42] going a distance and winning the ACC but it's gonna I can see between them and Clemson it's

[00:08:46] going to be pretty tough why Jess what's passing over to you sir Colorado's been in the news a

[00:08:51] lot so why don't you tell us a little bit what you think Colorado will do this year

[00:08:55] I don't think they win more than six games they've got some pretty they got a pretty rough schedule

[00:09:01] week two they got Nebraska then they end the year with Utah Kansas and Oklahoma State back to back

[00:09:08] they've had such bad vibes in the offseason all of the Dion and Shador talking controversies

[00:09:14] I don't think they make I think six games at best for them all right six games at best

[00:09:20] I tend to agree I don't I haven't seen any enough improvement from the transfer portal or definitely

[00:09:24] not recruiting to improve this team in in year two here so I agree with you if you totally

[00:09:30] all right I'll pass it over to my myself so I have a popular topic especially for my family in Ohio

[00:09:35] I'm gonna talk a little bit about Michigan so for me I think this will be the year Michigan

[00:09:40] beats Ohio State again so I don't think Ohio State would break through and I think there's

[00:09:44] a real a simple reason as to why that is it's basically on our defense and our physical

[00:09:47] approach versus the finalness approach of Ohio State I just haven't seen enough in the offseason

[00:09:53] this thing Ohio State will change and I think Michigan's defense will remain in attack with

[00:09:57] Will Johnson Mason Graham Kenneth Grant Rashawn Benny ends Derek Morage Ohio Stewart I think

[00:10:04] they'll continue to the control the line of scrimmage and really stopped at fault

[00:10:07] faulted Ohio State offense and then we look at the Ohio State side I still have questions on

[00:10:12] their offensive line and how they'll do it gets his front as they have it shown they could

[00:10:15] do anything and I don't think they made the changes to beat this team in the last three years

[00:10:19] and I think Michigan's are just enough on the offense with Alec Orgea quarterback

[00:10:22] and the pieces around him with Samir Mordegat Tyler Morris Colson Loveland and then Donovan

[00:10:28] Edwards that running back so I have them in my playoff bracket I think you're going to

[00:10:31] continue the misery for Ohio State all right now let's move back over to you Jordan so

[00:10:37] I think you want to talk a little bit about Missouri now so what is your hot take on Missouri

[00:10:44] my hot take is that Missouri makes the playoffs this year they only really have Texas A&M and

[00:10:48] Alabama on their schedule they did lose their top running back but they did bring Carol from

[00:10:53] Georgia State who rushed for 13,000 yards last year they have some veteran players on defense

[00:10:58] brought back a lot of offensive line players they also have Luther Burton III who a lot of

[00:11:04] people think he's the number one receiver in the college football right now he had 12

[00:11:09] over 1200 yards receiving last year Missouri's making the playoffs this year

[00:11:14] all right good pick I think a couple of us have Missouri in our playoff picks which we'll

[00:11:17] sell you a little bit later on in the podcast all right Jess back over to you sir I think you want

[00:11:23] to talk about a little more high-profile team in Colorado let's talk about Georgia

[00:11:26] where is your hot take on Georgia this year I think that Georgia could lose two to three

[00:11:34] regular season games this year they have one of the tougher schedules in all of college football

[00:11:40] they start there with Clemson but they get Clemson at home so I think they'll win that but games at

[00:11:45] Alabama at Texas and at Ole Miss I think they could lose two if not possibly even all three

[00:11:53] of those games I think Texas has to the size I think they're gonna have issues with Jalen and

[00:11:59] Roe Jalen Milrow of Alabama and I think of the last 10 they've lost eight against Alabama particularly

[00:12:07] they haven't done well at Alabama and I think Ole Miss is going to be very good this year and being

[00:12:13] that it's at Ole Miss can't count anything out in the SEC all right I'm not riding with you

[00:12:19] on that pick Georgia fans you'll see later you're in my playoff you do quite well in my

[00:12:24] playoff on brackets we'll see what happens with Georgia this year I do agree it's a much

[00:12:28] tougher schedule than they probably have in the past though all right my last fought would be on

[00:12:33] Syracuse so I have my hot take is I have Syracuse winning 10 games this year so I know that probably

[00:12:38] sounds silly could be in Syracuse has done it a lot in the last few years but I really am a big

[00:12:43] fan of their new coach Fran Brown he reminds me of Marcus Freeman at our name the way he

[00:12:49] builds relationships the people want to play for him run through walls for him I really like

[00:12:53] the team he has this year calm accord I think will be serviceable quarterback and offers his

[00:12:57] upgrade there I really like the physical receivers he has the Fro 2 you Mari Hatcher or on the

[00:13:03] Gantzen Justin Ross Simmons for Colorado State and Dan Ferrari I like all those guys on defense

[00:13:08] you have 13 defenders that saw at least 300 snaps last year some of those were coming from

[00:13:13] LSU in Texas A&M and other big time teams and looking at their schedule I think they can be

[00:13:18] Ohio Stanford Holy Cross you know the Pittsburgh Boston College California UConn and I think they

[00:13:23] get Georgia Tech and Miami at home so they'll I think they can split those and I think they're

[00:13:27] going to be off to a great year in Fran Brown's first year so that's my hot take on Syracuse

[00:13:33] all right so we have our hot takes we talked a little bit about our playoffs for our hot takes

[00:13:38] let's take a look at our playoff picks now some of you will be love our picks some of you

[00:13:43] may think we're the stupidest people in the world well sure we'll get all the feedback on

[00:13:48] I probably will get the most hate I will say from certain fans I'm ready for that hate yet

[00:13:53] I don't know about a jessus pixie right yet let's take a look here though we go pulling on up

[00:14:00] all right so Jess walk us through your playoff picks here sir so I have it being in Ohio State

[00:14:08] Texas final I have Ohio State winning it all I just think they're the most talented team

[00:14:14] in the country that's what happens when you spend 20 million dollars on your team in college

[00:14:20] there's a lot of money there I think the quarterback upgrade is going to be big

[00:14:25] I have the first round being Ole Miss versus Penn State in the eight nine game Notre Dame

[00:14:31] versus Liberty in the five twelve game Oregon against Alabama in the seven ten game and Georgia

[00:14:38] Miami in the six eleven game I have Georgia winning Oregon winning Notre Dame winning and all miss

[00:14:45] winning all of the higher seeds nothing really all that crazy there I have Ohio State beating all

[00:14:52] Miss then we get to the ACC champion or not the ACC the big 12 that's big 12 sorry god I am

[00:15:01] so out of it today I do not know what it is the big 12 I have Arizona winning the big 12 but losing

[00:15:08] to Notre Dame in the four or five game I have Texas versus Oregon Texas is going to win that

[00:15:13] and then Clemson Georgia and I do have Georgia winning that game so it'll be in the semis Ohio

[00:15:20] State Notre Dame and then Texas Georgia and like I said I have Ohio State Texas in the final with

[00:15:24] Ohio State winning it all all right good picks I pretty solid well the only point I would

[00:15:29] question I do think Arizona will be good I don't think they're going to win the big 12 but that's

[00:15:34] just my only hiccup here I like the rest your picks that they make pretty pretty good sense to me

[00:15:38] so what's that sort of door to see what you have a little bit different here sir

[00:15:43] yeah for me I have Notre Dame Oregon in my championship game and I have Oregon winning

[00:15:49] this one I just think Oregon it's their time to actually shine they always have the decent

[00:15:54] teams but it's time so Gabriel gets them over the top I think so I think you want a championship

[00:16:00] sorry doing I think he's putting on the year you're wrong Tony my eight nine games Michigan

[00:16:05] Alabama I'm different than tell Jess I have Boise State my 12 and Notre Dame my five I have

[00:16:13] Texas seven Missouri 10 Oregon six and Ole Miss 11 and then I have Alabama beating Michigan

[00:16:22] Boise State beating no can Boise State losing another day in Texas beating Missouri and

[00:16:29] Oregon beating Ole Miss for my conference championship teams I have Ohio State at one

[00:16:37] Alabama playing Alabama the next game you got Utah for big 12 I got Georgia for the SEC and

[00:16:44] I got NC State for the ACC I talked about that a little bit ago I do have Oregon beaten NC State

[00:16:50] Georgia beaten Texas Notre Dame beaten Utah and Ohio State being Alabama I do have Notre Dame

[00:16:58] beating Ohio State in the next game I talked to going to play Oregon after Oregon beats Georgia

[00:17:04] in the semis and I already said that I have Oregon over Notre Dame to win the national

[00:17:10] championship game all right interesting pigs now don't forget me I just don't trust Oregon I

[00:17:16] guess that would be my big thing but everybody you guys seem to really love dealing Gabriel

[00:17:19] so maybe on this on the I now liar here but I just he'll be a good enough against the bad teams I

[00:17:25] don't think we'll be good enough against the good teams that's my own perspective on doing Gabriel

[00:17:29] all right take a look at my picks here so for me I have Alabama coming in eight Michigan nine

[00:17:35] Notre Dame five Boise State 12 Texas seven Missouri 10 Oregon six Ole Miss 11 so I do

[00:17:42] have Oregon in the top in the playoffs so we're gonna get off me a little bit here

[00:17:45] I have Michigan beating Alabama again for the second year in a row in the playoffs

[00:17:50] I have Notre Dame beating Boise State I have Missouri beating Texas yes a little shocker there

[00:17:55] but I think Missouri has a really good offense uh they'll shake your head at me just I have

[00:18:00] Ole Miss being Oregon just because I'm not a believer in Oregon and dealing Gabriel as I

[00:18:04] mentioned I might be a little shocked to some here but I had Michigan beating Ohio State again

[00:18:07] because I haven't beaten already in the final game of the season and everybody can shake

[00:18:11] your head and say oh that's not going to happen you guys they think they're going to beat them

[00:18:14] last three times and they did and I think my big thing you said they have upgraded quarterback

[00:18:18] for Will Howard I do not think that's upgraded quarterback I think he cannot pass the football

[00:18:23] to save his life I think he could run the football really well and they'll beat all the sub

[00:18:28] bad all the bad teams in the big 10 they'll struggle gets Oregon but probably because of

[00:18:33] the roster can out can manage to beat them I do not think they're going to be

[00:18:37] um Michigan there at the end I think most teams I don't think there's going to be any

[00:18:41] undefeated teams outside of Notre Dame in the regular season that's why I think I still have

[00:18:46] Ohio State at number one there but I have Michigan beating Ohio State again I am

[00:18:51] Notre Dame beating Clemson I have Georgia being Missouri and I have Utah being Ole Miss I really

[00:18:56] like Utah I like their old school approach and I think they will build this win the line

[00:19:00] of scrimmage with if Cam rising Cam rising going down and not having a backup would

[00:19:05] totally ruin this for me but I do think they'll be back and build ready to play after taking a year

[00:19:09] off I have Notre Dame beating Michigan which for Notre Dame fans will be very sweet and then I have

[00:19:14] Georgia being Utah and Georgia beating Notre Dame I think Georgia is the most talented team

[00:19:19] they're angry they lost last year they're one game and they're they were 13-1 and they

[00:19:24] took it as a really bad season last year there should be a turn to come back here

[00:19:27] angry and I think they're going to run for the teams I think they'll probably

[00:19:31] went up loses some games just because the schedule it's hard to go into feed with that schedule

[00:19:34] but I think they will maintain and win and when to play off and and beat in George

[00:19:38] Notre Dame in the in the final so that is my plan prediction any thoughts there guys

[00:19:43] no I think your spot I feel like all of ours could happen there's always and everyone

[00:19:49] but now I think you got some horrible picks it's all right we all make mistakes

[00:19:55] Ohio State if you want to say that maybe Michigan beats Ohio State runs I could

[00:20:04] disagree but wrap my head around it but twice

[00:20:09] twice do you want them to burn down all of the football facilities in Ohio State

[00:20:14] I don't know if they could do a tool is it this how many games are home

[00:20:19] in Michigan's getting into the playoffs because they're only the first rounds of home

[00:20:24] oh dang done Ohio State in the regular season and then they're going to beat them again in the playoffs

[00:20:30] yeah because I think and the thing is like like I was taking the second round here

[00:20:36] or whatever you would call that round is not at home it's going to be a neutral site in a bowl

[00:20:40] games like the Rose Bowl so it's not like they would be beating them out of high state

[00:20:44] and Ohio State twice yeah so it's a neutral feel I don't know I just feel like

[00:20:48] that Michigan defense matched up really well against will Howard now Ohio State if they

[00:20:52] make a change of quarterback and they put one of those young freshmen in

[00:20:55] that could throw the football around then maybe I changed my perspective on Ohio State

[00:20:59] but I think that's what they're going to have to do because everything around them is good but

[00:21:02] I'm a little worried about their offensive line and I'm a little worried about

[00:21:06] that will Howard be able to throw the football enough to beat a really good defensive team

[00:21:10] I don't know if there's that many good defensive teams outside of like Iowa and

[00:21:13] Michigan and Iowa doesn't have the offense and if Michigan has any posts on offense I

[00:21:17] think they can be very similar to what you've seen the last couple years with

[00:21:20] Michigan Ohio State that's the playoff picks there

[00:21:24] shake your head me all you want family in Ohio I'm sorry it's nothing personal this

[00:21:28] is my fault on this situation it's personal I hate Michigan I want to be

[00:21:31] picking Michigan trust me I didn't believe all right

[00:21:34] what's up with it

[00:21:41] everybody hates Michigan who doesn't hate Michigan except for me this year I picked

[00:21:44] you guys just remember that guys I picked you he didn't pick you guys to win it so

[00:21:48] he still hates you I beat you to be Alabama and Ohio State that's pretty

[00:21:52] good and he lives in our damn it's fine cares all right what's gonna week

[00:21:55] Michigan or Notre Dame is the Dallas Cowboys

[00:22:00] of Notre Dame in terms that everybody seems to hate them

[00:22:04] I still love everybody hates our name it's uh as a fan growing up I've got

[00:22:09] used to the fact that everybody hates every time I mention our name I don't

[00:22:11] care so you like the Giants everybody hates them it doesn't be deal right hey

[00:22:15] they suck so we can talk about it we could talk about it

[00:22:20] we could but that is that is not a long podcast we have to we have a lot to bring

[00:22:24] up in that podcast so we'll talk about that yeah now you want to hear me go off

[00:22:29] get me talking we can talk about Tony Tony's got

[00:22:32] Caleb Williams I do apology I mean I actually turn the last see what you

[00:22:37] guys were talking about last year now with him now he's with the bears and

[00:22:40] and a good team no I was never talking about now I was

[00:22:42] doing well acknowledge the talent yeah I like the talent of my team so

[00:22:48] yes I know you're upset that the Giants didn't get them it's okay

[00:22:51] we got Danny Dimes we were ever getting the Neymar overall pick

[00:22:55] you got Danny Dimes bro that we weren't able to get Drake May but Malik

[00:22:59] neighbors looks great Danny Dimes Daniel Jones

[00:23:03] Danny Dimes but I am going to cheer for them and

[00:23:08] get very upset every Sunday we can riff on the Giants all day but we're gonna

[00:23:12] go ahead and move on to the week one preview here there's a lot of good

[00:23:15] games this week Clemson and Georgia I will start there

[00:23:18] this is Georgia came into last year with a quest to win three in a row and that

[00:23:23] came up short in the championship game gets Alabama so they

[00:23:26] like I mentioned earlier I think you're coming in this one hungry

[00:23:29] they're loaded with a lot of talented players across the board offensive

[00:23:32] defense they have Carson Beck coming back many

[00:23:35] fought he was going to the draft last year he's come back to try to win that

[00:23:38] championship this year yeah this game will be taking place in Mercedes

[00:23:42] Benz Stadium in Atlanta so home it's a neutral field but

[00:23:46] home game there for for Georgia in many cases as for Clemson they they felt

[00:23:50] a little bit of short of expectations of 2024 I think many

[00:23:53] fought that with Garrett Riley coming along

[00:23:55] they would really bring a lot out of cave um Klednick there

[00:23:59] um they had their moments where they went a little run there at the end

[00:24:02] of the season winning some games gets some good competition um but you know in

[00:24:07] this game they're looked at as a big underdog 13 and a half points at one

[00:24:11] point when I saw it that could be more or less now

[00:24:13] 13 and a half that is yep so do we think coming to this game do you

[00:24:18] guys think that Kate Cullnick it will be approved do you think this Clemson

[00:24:21] is going to have enough firepower to keep up with Georgia where do you see

[00:24:24] this as Georgia is putting their foot on the

[00:24:26] throat and slowly taking them out of this game so

[00:24:28] sir you just what do you think that this one look I have

[00:24:32] George I have Georgia moves in a couple games this season I have Clemson

[00:24:37] winning the ACC but I think Georgia is going to win this game

[00:24:40] I think your Clemson's coming off the end of the season strong

[00:24:45] I think Kate Cullnick still has a lot of potential

[00:24:49] hopefully he doesn't end up like DJ has looked at DJU rather not Daniel

[00:24:54] Jones being that we were just talking about the Giants

[00:24:56] a bit but I don't think this is going to be a game they're going to win

[00:25:01] I think that while Clemson has a great defense I think this is going to be a

[00:25:06] lower scoring game I think Clemson will be keeping it close I don't think

[00:25:10] George is going to blow them out of the water

[00:25:12] but I do think Georgia is going to win this one and probably

[00:25:16] I think Clemson will cover I think Georgia wins by 10

[00:25:20] and they'll feel like a relatively comfortable 10 that'll have moments to

[00:25:24] have the game where I can Clemson do this no so I've got Georgia by 10

[00:25:28] all right Jordan Deager

[00:25:32] yeah I got Georgia I think I don't think Kate's going to improve we already

[00:25:37] have given him a year and he did not improve last year

[00:25:40] I think the only real thing going for Clemson this year is they have

[00:25:46] Phil Mahaffey still on their team but I think Georgia is just going to

[00:25:51] comfortably win this game it might not be a blowout

[00:25:54] but I think that Georgia is going to be in the lead the whole time I think Georgia just

[00:25:59] is the better team offensively and defensively they look more complete on offense I just think

[00:26:05] Kate's not going to be able to improve enough and show enough

[00:26:10] all right I'd say the graphic Georgia wins I think it could be closer game and maybe people

[00:26:14] are thinking I think it's a low scoring game I like Phil Mahaffey for Clemson I think he

[00:26:18] can run the ball I really punished that Georgia defensive line and I think the offensive line is

[00:26:23] going to be much improved for Clemson this year I like some of the additions and the

[00:26:27] new offensive line coach they have I think they're going to do some good things there

[00:26:30] and I think this game could be close but I think it ends up being Georgia by about 10

[00:26:35] as you mentioned just I think that's a good score there so I'll get that with you as well

[00:26:38] Georgia by 10 all right never again Penn State and West Virginia yeah so Penn State

[00:26:43] face a little bit of a test here as they go on the road in Morgantown to take on West Virginia

[00:26:48] obviously we always talk about Penn State they're coming into their second straight double

[00:26:53] digit win season or James Franklin they finished further into big 10 last year

[00:26:57] they're predicted to finish further in the big 10 this year it feels like they're always

[00:27:01] 10-2 but not quite there and so they need to win this game if they want to make that the next

[00:27:07] step but I will say West Virginia took a step up last year they finished 9-4 and Neil Brown's

[00:27:12] fifth season so they see some improvement there but we'll be enough we'll transfer over

[00:27:16] this year I guess the big question if you're high on or not high on Penn State is you see Drew

[00:27:22] Aller approving as a passer for Penn State I think your receiving corp was too good just to be wasted

[00:27:28] if he's not going to improve but then West Virginia perspective their offensive line is

[00:27:33] among the best in the big 12 they have a talented group of second-aided slow that talented Penn

[00:27:37] State receivers down Jordan start with you who do you got sir Penn State or West Virginia

[00:27:41] yeah I got Penn State I think they just have a little bit more star power I just don't I think

[00:27:48] it's gonna be a lot closer than I think they're giving Penn State eight and a half on this one

[00:27:54] so I think it's gonna be a lot closer than we touched down yeah taking that it's gonna be a

[00:28:00] touchdown two field ever in that two field gold game I don't know I think I don't think Drew Aller's

[00:28:08] gonna improve enough we all thought he was gonna be they all thought he was gonna be the guy

[00:28:13] he was gonna be Penn State's person they're gonna improve but they haven't improved they're

[00:28:19] gonna do the same thing they do every year and lose two games and make a bowl game

[00:28:27] if we still have those I don't remember we do Jess what do you think

[00:28:33] I think Penn State's gonna win handedly I think they're gonna hit that in half over and I think

[00:28:41] they're gonna I've got a lot I was I was talking about hitting the other way I'm sorry if that was

[00:28:46] I think West Virginia I think Penn State wins by like 17 I think they I think I don't think

[00:28:54] Drew Aller's that guy I'm high on Penn State I think sorry Penn State I forget what you guys had

[00:29:03] I don't even I didn't even talk about Penn State am I the only one that had Penn State you are

[00:29:07] you are I didn't even I didn't even talk about Penn State I think Penn State's gonna be good this

[00:29:13] year I think they're beginning they're gonna be good enough to make the playoff I think

[00:29:17] West Virginia I don't think West Virginia is gonna even I don't think they're really touch

[00:29:23] at Penn State I've got Penn State by 17 I think West Virginia wins this game all right

[00:29:29] I cool it's my first upset pick of the week if you had to pick one of these it's gonna be this one

[00:29:35] if I remember correctly from last year's game it was 14-7 Penn State at half it was 21

[00:29:44] 15 and the fourth and then that thick Penn State rolled off like 17 points to pull away

[00:29:49] but that was at Penn State I was poor West Virginia really found her footing last year

[00:29:53] it was the first game of the season I feel like West Virginia's gonna come in here

[00:29:56] in Morgantown something to prove make this a rock fight and grind out a like a 3.3 that's my pick

[00:30:03] West Virginia don't make me look stupid here so go up there and do that they're going to

[00:30:11] all right next up Miami versus Florida so for Miami there's a lot of hype coming

[00:30:17] in this season you have Cam Ward coming in from Washington State along with talented Oregon State

[00:30:21] running back Damian Martinez you have a huge it talents are offensive line they've been building

[00:30:26] the last couple years so there's going to be a strength of this team you got to think would be

[00:30:30] on the offensive side the defense I think they still need to approve they gave like 32.4

[00:30:35] points a game last year they are bringing in the recruits but all those recruits ready to

[00:30:39] perform they have some transfers will it be enough to really get them up running for Florida

[00:30:43] this starts a really a brutal year-long stretch of schedule what they have going for them they have

[00:30:49] two enormous lines both the offensive and defensive lines they have a really good running back in

[00:30:53] Montreal Johnson they have a solid set of receivers they have Elijah Badger from Arizona State

[00:30:58] they have Shmere Dyke from Wisconsin they have their quarterback Graham Merzbach who we were the

[00:31:03] fan of the Wisconsin he played much better considering what was around him last year at

[00:31:07] Florida so you got Florida starting off their season at the swamp winning this game whereas

[00:31:13] Miami you're going to live up to their hype so are you just I think Miami's gonna live up to the

[00:31:20] hype I think Miami's the better team I think they've got a very strong foundation in and I like

[00:31:28] Cam Ward and I think the spread is only two and a half you mean Miami went out right

[00:31:35] covered the spread I think Florida is going to be better than maybe people

[00:31:41] anticipate like we we discussed it like no one's schedule is rougher than Florida in the entire

[00:31:47] country but I think that they're going to be one of those teams that they're going to be a tough

[00:31:53] out they're not going to win many games but they're going to give teams a fight I think

[00:31:58] they'll give Miami a fight but I think Miami wins I think they cover and yeah give me Miami

[00:32:09] Miami I think this is this is the game that Billy Napier's someone's going to throw fire

[00:32:15] underneath his seat and he's going to get a lot hotter I think it's going to start early

[00:32:21] I just think Miami I think Cam Ward's going to really

[00:32:25] boost their offense and yeah two and a half man let me bet that I think Miami is just

[00:32:32] a better team right now than Florida I just don't see it give me Miami Tony I know you're wrong

[00:32:37] so I've got Florida because it's in the swamp and I don't see Miami going to the swamp and beating

[00:32:43] this offensive defensive line I think Florida usually plays well swap a slope they beat Utah

[00:32:49] two years ago at the swamp then yeah Utah team was really good team that year I think better than

[00:32:54] this Miami team and so I feel I just feel like Florida is going to be motivated because they

[00:32:59] know they have a huge stretch they got to get this season off right Miami still has the whole

[00:33:03] you know the conference after this to go on but I just don't I'm not quite a believer in Miami yet

[00:33:08] every year they come in that this is the year Miami turns that corner and they haven't really

[00:33:12] done that yet so um I think Florida will come in here and handle business in the swamp

[00:33:16] so yeah give me that two and a half and then I'll pick forward away so that's my pick

[00:33:21] so we'll see who's right a lot of the differences of opinion this week so I don't

[00:33:25] hope I'm not on the wrong side of things you will be usually I'm not though I'm pretty smart

[00:33:30] some good things about Georgia Tech is all I'm saying all right USC at LSU okay so the churches

[00:33:35] have won a combined 19 games the last two seasons and they're let and their third year under head

[00:33:39] coach licky riley they're hoping to make it to the third straight bowl game for the first time

[00:33:44] since 2015 and 2017 obviously Miller Moss is replacing Kelly Williams a quarterback he has

[00:33:49] 92 career past attempts of not touchdowns he obviously looked really good in the bowl game

[00:33:53] last year USC also gets a big time transfer in Mississippi State running back woody marks who had

[00:33:58] close to 1900 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns at over 214 receptions last year so big time

[00:34:04] player there there's obviously high level recruits all over the offensive side of USC so I don't

[00:34:09] think they're going to have any issues scoring the football I guess what it comes out to as a

[00:34:13] defense they have a new defensive coordinator they bring back Mason Cobb who returned who

[00:34:18] was the leading tackler last year 85 tackles they have Jamal Muhammad with who had 6.5 sacks last

[00:34:23] year jacobie covettan had an interception so they have some pieces well they all put together

[00:34:28] and make it a solid team jess will start with you and your beloved USC Trojans who is winning

[00:34:34] this game USC or LSU I didn't talk about LSU at all I guess I should talk about LSU they have

[00:34:41] Garrett Nussmeyer they're so enthusiastic about this oh Garrett must be replacing Jane Daniels

[00:34:48] this is like the worst game for you because someone has to win yeah I'm hoping for a 25 overtime

[00:34:56] slobberknocker in a beach of reference of the season but I hope I think Garrett

[00:35:00] no lighter will come in he has a lot of a lot of experience might take a little bit of time

[00:35:04] to fit in um they have a really I would say one of the better offensive lines in the country

[00:35:08] with little Camerole Emery Jones there on the offensive side they have some good Y receivers

[00:35:12] that transferred in they beyond Thomas and CJ Daniels defensively they have major burns

[00:35:18] Harold Perkins and some others but I think Rick or Cernes will be on the corner back

[00:35:21] side here's my LSU breakdown Jess take it away who's winning USC LSU I've got LSU

[00:35:28] and the big thing for me is that offensive line that LSU has they have at least two

[00:35:35] first round guys and both of their tackles their book ended there I like the little we've seen from

[00:35:42] Garrett Nussmeyer he looked good in the bowl game last year but it's gonna come down to how much

[00:35:50] improve that USC defenses and I do think it will be better than last year I do think they got

[00:35:56] some bodies now they got they added some size I just don't think it's gonna be enough I'm

[00:36:02] gonna go with LSU I think that offensive line is gonna give Garrett Nussmeyer time I think he's

[00:36:10] gonna take time over the course of season to really see what we've got with him but he's got the

[00:36:16] hog mollies in front of him to give him some let him get through his progressions

[00:36:23] read the defense he's gonna have time in the pocket he's not going to need to be running

[00:36:27] for his life so give me LSU all right Jordan do you agree yeah I got LSU I just USC's defense is still

[00:36:36] such a question mark for me never know what it's gonna be and what it's not gonna be I just think

[00:36:43] Nussmeyer showed glimpses of greatness last year especially in that bowl game yeah it's a bowl

[00:36:48] game but he did almost put up 400 yards they brought some good talent in my receiver

[00:36:53] in CJ Daniels from Liberty he caught over a thousand rushes receiving yards last year so

[00:37:00] I just think LSU is all around a better team defensively and offensively I just don't think

[00:37:07] Lincoln Riley can ever figure out that defense it's showing and all the all the seasons he was at

[00:37:14] Oklahoma it's showing a lot here at USC um he just can't get that spot and I think it's a huge

[00:37:23] ask for a quarterback to come in and replace a player like Caleb Williams I just think that LSU

[00:37:30] all around is a better team not a coach though but all around every other position they're just better

[00:37:40] yeah this game's interesting

[00:37:45] it isn't and betrayal is still fresh huh it is in I'm still pulling knife

[00:37:52] from Las Vegas so it is in Las Vegas so it is in Las Vegas yeah this is interesting game for me

[00:37:58] hey I know USC have so much trust in their defense but if you remember last year LSU's defense

[00:38:03] was gave up a lot of points at certain games where that the secondary was a concern and a secretary

[00:38:09] is still a concern this year and USC has the receivers a quarterback that can potentially

[00:38:13] hurt that secondary but I do feel like the athletes on defense or on the front are going to

[00:38:19] be enough to slow down the USC offense enough to have LSU win this one but I think it could be a

[00:38:24] closer game than maybe some are predicting I can see this being a seven to ten point LSU win over

[00:38:28] USC I guess give me give me LSU all right finally we have the main event of the evening

[00:38:42] oh this is apparently it's 36 seconds yes main event the prime time event notary day in

[00:38:49] the Texas A&M this is where game day will be at you know a lot of expectations on both teams

[00:38:53] I you know I think some are just fine some are not I think Texas A&M is coming this season with

[00:38:58] plenty of expectations though they have a new coach after getting rid of Jim O'Fisher in the off season

[00:39:02] they have Connor Wigman coming back on our center at quarterback he threw over 979 yards a touchdown

[00:39:08] two receptions last year before getting hurt they have a new offensive coordinator Colin

[00:39:12] Klein coming over from Kansas State who should bring some fun along with the run

[00:39:16] personnel they have three offensive linemen starting to return they they have obviously

[00:39:21] I hate to say they have the best defensive line in the country but that's what it's looking

[00:39:25] at the best defensive line in the country I know that was some praise said the same thing about

[00:39:29] Florida State I imagine it's a little different here with Mike Elko as the head coach he'll make

[00:39:33] sure the defensive line is actually the best in the country they do have injury Ruben Olin's

[00:39:38] is out for running back but they have the two behind him that are really good they have good

[00:39:42] all-around defense I would say their weakness this looking at it would be their offensive

[00:39:47] line might struggle a little bit the receivers have been struggling a little bit in training camp so

[00:39:52] you have to wonder if they're going to get that stirred up again for Notre Dame they bring it also

[00:39:56] having some new coaches they bring a Mike Den Brock coming from LSU over to Notre Dame as the

[00:40:00] offensive coordinator he obviously had some success in his last two stints at Notre Dame

[00:40:05] and his last time he was there was in 2015 one of the most explosive years Notre Dame has had

[00:40:10] obviously they moved off from Sal Harman brought in Rodney Leonard who was a good running

[00:40:15] quarterback that is showing some ability in training camp to throw the ball down to feel

[00:40:19] pretty well and they I think the one area where they have upgraded the most on the Notre Dame

[00:40:23] side obviously is why receiver as they have obviously they have Jayden Thomas still they

[00:40:28] sub Jayden Greyhouse with Jordan Faizon they also had a Chris Mitchell, Bo Collins both have

[00:40:33] a bunch of passes caught in their career but in defense if they predict to have one of the

[00:40:38] top five defenses again in the country they lose Audrey Kestemay Jerry my love is taken

[00:40:42] over with I'm Jordan Price right behind him Jess we'll start with you man what are you thinking

[00:40:47] about Notre Dame Texas A&M so be at Texas A&M 110,000 fans it's hot a little facto it is hotter

[00:40:53] Wednesday and Notre Dame Tuesday Wednesday Notre Dame then it will be at the actual game time

[00:40:58] and the humidity will be worse in South Bend and it will be in the game maybe that will

[00:41:02] maybe that's God bringing down a little bit of heat to South Bend to get them ready for the

[00:41:07] Saturday but what do you think happened here sir first of all I must say that I am very impressed

[00:41:14] with the level of research that you've done that you even know that it is going to be hotter

[00:41:20] prior to the game on specific day Tuesday and Wednesday specifically

[00:41:25] in this is Marcus Marcus free man a press conference today and it didn't mention all this

[00:41:29] I wasn't watching the weather or anything so it's like we know my family is going to be at

[00:41:34] Florida it's going to be hot so and USC at LSU is in a dome so why does it what does it matter

[00:41:39] yeah all these teams playing diamonds got there playing they've ironed me we let mother nature

[00:41:43] take its course that's right say that Notre Dame I think we was posted you guys posted in the

[00:41:49] chat they're going to be starting two true freshmen on the left side of the line yes that

[00:41:54] is not nothing that is a big deal there's going to be an experience factor there there's going

[00:42:02] to be a conditioning and strength and unlike the NFL where for the most part you have a lot of people

[00:42:09] a lot of the guys go to the NFL they've grown into their bodies more if there's a 23 year old

[00:42:16] going up against an 18 19 year old true freshman there's going to be that body developmental

[00:42:21] factor that being said I'm going to go with the Irish I think they have a better all around team

[00:42:28] they have who I think is the second best corner in the country Benjamin Morrison I believe his name

[00:42:34] yes he's number one quarterback I think you're mistaken there yes I think he's number two behind

[00:42:39] Will Johnson but I'm not going to get into this I'm not gonna be we could spend a whole time or

[00:42:45] arguing this upcoming corner class because it looks really good it does look really good

[00:42:51] but I just think Notre Dame is a much more talented team I like Riley Leonard thankfully is ankle I

[00:42:58] believe it is doing all right so his mobility shouldn't be too impacted so I'm going with Notre

[00:43:04] Dame here Jordan what do you got sir oh man let me I'm gonna throw a curve ball in there ready

[00:43:11] I got Notre Dame got my hopes up Jordan I thought you thought

[00:43:20] no I wouldn't have done it to myself but last year they had the seventh best scoring defense

[00:43:26] fifth best total defense they allowed there were the fifth in yards allowed per play

[00:43:32] their defense was just dominant they were turning five starters from their defense especially

[00:43:37] all American Xavier Watts a bunch of other players a couple transfers that corner but I definitely think

[00:43:44] yeah they're true freshmen on the offensive line but they're at Notre Dame

[00:43:48] offensive line you man there's that they're beating out players have been there there's

[00:43:54] a reason they're starting so that doesn't give me concern but Riley Leonard coming

[00:44:00] you can mobile good quarterback I think that's what Notre Dame has been missing the last

[00:44:05] couple years someone that can throw and move Sam Harman last year just didn't seem

[00:44:10] mobile enough but Jane Greyhouse Greyhouse looks good we went to the spring game he looked

[00:44:16] ready to go look bigger faster Mitchell Evans remains healthy if you can you know then that

[00:44:24] he's just gonna put up numbers I think Notre Dame like you said Jess has a better all-around

[00:44:29] team I think Texas A&M is still going to be trying to get out of that Jimbo Fisher mindset

[00:44:35] that they've had for the last couple years and all the money that they're paying him to

[00:44:41] sit at home and watch the game on TV at Notre Dame I think they're gonna cover

[00:44:46] I think Texas A&M is a mine three two and a half three it was a three one point if

[00:44:53] you drop I come yeah but I just think that Notre Dame has a better all-in team better coaching

[00:44:59] right now I think they want it more and they're they're really hungry and I think it's their time

[00:45:05] I think while Leonard's gonna put up huge numbers in this game behind that offensive line

[00:45:11] it's Notre Dame by two and a half I believe is it Notre Dame I thought it was Texas A&M by

[00:45:16] two and a half yeah it's Texas A&M oh I'm sorry no I read I did read that backwards yeah

[00:45:21] Notre Dame plus two and a half no on ESPN bet it's three yeah I knew it was three

[00:45:29] in some places A&M favored by two and a half the over under is at 46 and a half yeah yeah for me I

[00:45:37] think this is going to be a rock fight I don't foresee this be an easy game for either team

[00:45:41] I like Mike Elclah a lot as a coach he did I think he did a lot of good things with Duke

[00:45:45] look at year one or year two of Duke they're both really good years he took

[00:45:48] a less talented Duke team it really elevated him really quickly and I like what he did is a

[00:45:53] defensive coordinator in Notre Dame seeing him up close I think he'll get this defense

[00:45:57] where it needs to be the offense I think will be a little bit of a downfall this because I think

[00:46:01] the offensive line will struggle a bit receivers may struggle a bit they're going to be depending

[00:46:04] on a little bit on some younger guys as well so I can see it being like a really slug fish

[00:46:10] because both defensive lines are really good it's going to be really hard to run the football

[00:46:13] against these teams and so that means they're going to not be able to throw the ball they're

[00:46:17] going to have to throw the ball and I just don't know both corners are good too so you're

[00:46:20] going to have to have some quarterback runs here and I think Raleigh Leonard is better at that

[00:46:23] I think it'll open up I also think Mike Dunbrock part of the reason they put two young freshmen

[00:46:31] offensive linemen in because they're lighter he likes a lighter shittier offensive line for you

[00:46:36] could do more of the screenplays and the quarterback runs and and get down the

[00:46:40] field quicker that kind of thing so I think he did it on purpose I am worried about the

[00:46:45] offensive line though even though they are talented if this was game four or five I feel

[00:46:48] a lot better about it in game one at college station so I'm a little worried about that

[00:46:53] so they might have some issues early in the game I think both teams probably will

[00:46:57] be off it's alive as they both are struggling in that area so I can see this being like

[00:47:02] 1410 kind of game wins this to be a close one I think should be a good game I hope it's a

[00:47:07] good game yeah I hope it's one Ashley blows up a little bit to the hype yeah hope to see

[00:47:11] a good one on on Saturday though all right with that we are wrapping up the podcast for the week

[00:47:39] not just throwing out names based on what media is hyping up but we'll actually see them in the game

[00:47:44] we can see what they actually do if we can give them a good opinion of who we fix and win the

[00:47:47] heisman so we'll do that next week and we'll be able to break down all these games hopefully
